I don't have Duracoat on my XD but IIRC James mentions letting your finish cure for a few days to a week or two before submitting it to holsters or anything abrasive. It gets better with age.

I had my XD Dura Coated 2 weeks ago.. So far! Sooooo Good! I had the slide done in HK Black... Anyway, the person that did mine said the same as ajames-- Do not holster for a coulpe or four weeks. I have been shooting with it, but have kept it out of the pouch. It seems to be holding up fine to this point....

my brother has been doing gunsmithing for 10 years and duracoat for about 4 years, he has done countless guns, i have two guns done by him a mossburg 590 in coyote brown and black furniture and the second is xd -9 with the side done in wolf grey. the first thing i learned was that duracoat needs to age and cure up for about 4 to 6 weeks before in be comes rock soilded then in my opinion you could run it over with a mac truck and the finish would be a ok. but the one thing you not want to do is spray CRC heavy duty silicone in the red bottle in your finish. it containes acetone and will eat a duracoat finish. same to be said about a nickel plated gun acetone will dull the finish and you will go insane trying get the shine back. my best advice is consult your duracoat dealer. if you want a second opinion checkout www.rmpgunworks.com
