Now in theory, couldn't someone like EFK Firedragon make a 10mm barrel that would fit in the .45 slide? Still leaves the problem of the breech face, but it's a step in the right direction

I dont think the breech face is a problem. there are conversion barrels to use 10mm in a glock 45. there are conversions to run 9mm in a 40, the difference is about the same. the only real question is; is the rest of the gun up to the pounding the 10mm would cause.

Why not a XD bazooka?

Ok I think it would be cool if SA made a AR-15 with the quality that the XDs have. They are combat pistols that can really hold up. I think an AR would be sweet.

Yep. And SA would spend a large portion of their budget bringing in a number of pistols that would take years to sell. And by tying up that money they would not be able to bring in things like XD9SC or XD40SC that are already hard to find.

who shoots 10mm? I can only imagine how hard it is to get reloading components for that caliber, right now. I ***** about ammo prices (like everyone else), if i shot 10mm, i would probably break a cd in half and slit my jugular with it.

Money has nothing to do with the SC shortage ( I can lay my hands on 3 of them at my local shop btw ) only demand vs Croat production capacity. I suspect they rotate production across the model line so various models come over in surges rather than all models being built all the time. 10mm would just add one more model to the list. If SA can do all the custom shop work that they do on the 1911 they could surely proto a 10mm slide to test on a XD-45 frame.
With the success of...well... virtually every XD and XDm model I suspect it's time for a U.S. production facility or a major expansion of the Croat factory ( which way well already be in the works ). If 10mm sales numbers ever grab SA's interest I doubt they will have much trouble capitalizing on it, the ground work might have been done a year or more ago for all we know.
If you think 10mm will never work economically, just look at all the 50cal crazyness going on in both pistols and rifles ( 50BMG ).

Around here 10mmUMC factory is about the same price as 45ACP factory. About $25-$30 a box. Expensive, sure but like I said still close to 45.

All it takes is placing an order.

Depending on whom you believe, Cooper's original objective for the ten was 1000 fps from a 200 gr bullet, or 1200 fps from the same 200gr bullet. Most manufacturers don'e even load 200 grain loads in the 10mm. Hornady is one who does. But who needs it?

DoubleTap Ammo's 40 S&W 200 JHP Load makes 1050 fps out of a G23, and 1100 in a 4.5 in barrel, virtually identical to (actually better than)Hornady's 200 grain 10mm loading (1050 in 5" bbl).

Just load up your XD40 and go shootin'!

After reading some ballistics info on 10mm versus .40sw I just don't see why all the hoopla over it?? It doesn't perform that much better than .40sw and in some cases I saw certainly not anywhere near enough more to justify having a chamber for it.

Kool-Aid anyone?
