XD-.45ACP finish

OK, I just got one today(picking it up tomorrow) and noticed the finish is different. I know that it's Melonite, but what the hell is Melonite? Is it like their Armory Kote?

1. This is the XD-.45 acp
2. I emailed Springfield today and they told me it was Melonite. I was going to email them again to get details but I decided to try here first.
3. I think I've looked at that site. From what I can tell, it's almost like Glocks finish

Anybody else care to expand on this? I'm still not 100% sure

1) right , no
2.) cool did not know that, they changed the finnish then
3.) it's listed as being comparable to the tennifer finnish
