Whooaaaa!! XD smiles

Went to my local gun shop today to inquire on a new Para for future IPSC use (not yet available) and happened to pick up an XD .40. Man, what a sweet feel! Way better in my hands as compared to my G22. I've been reading posts on here all night. Anybody shooting the XD . 40 tactical in IDPA/IPSC? If so, how ya doing? Thanks. Great site, keep it up.

I shot a Sig 229 all last season in L-10 and then ordered a full custom built STI. While waiting for it to come in, I bought an XD .40 Tactical to shoot an indoor league with in production class. I ended up shooting a few classifiers 2 weeks ago with it in L-10 and hit "B" class. I'm now shooting the XD in L-10 for the indoor league and have no problems being competative with it.

My wife shoots a XD service in 9mm and does really well considering that she is a brand new shooter.

Several others that I shoot with and are on this board are shooting XD's in USPSA with me and are doing VERY well too!

It really is a great gun to compete with, if you plan to get serious, have a trigger job done on it, Canyon Creek is the guy to send it off to.

What caliber

I know this is a dead subject, but I see a pretty mixed bag of 9mm and 40's used. Is one better than the other in competition? I don't remember exactly but I thought in one platform, either IDPA or IPSC there was a minimum of 40 cal. Is this right? I'll eventually be reloading so cost won't be a great issue at that point. Thanks, keep it coming.

in IPSC/USPSA there is major and minor scoring in most of the divisions.

If your set on and XD-40 Tactical then you will probably be better off shooting Limited-10 since you get major scoring for shooting 40 caliber, assuming your make the power factor. Limited-10 also allows you to tweek your gun more and add a few more gadgets to your gun and magazine holders than the production division. Most notably would be the addition of a magazine well.

Production is also a great place for the XD especially with XD-40 if you reload you can down-load ammuntion to minor power factor since all produciton is scored as minor whether your shooting major or not. A XD-40 downloaded to minor is a very smooth shooting gun, many argue smoother than a minor 9mm.

I'm personally shooting L-10 with my XD-40 Tactical and have been having alot of fun with it. Have added a few extras to the gun.

I shoot my XD40 in IDPA, it works wonderfully. If you get it, you will no doubt love it.
