Talked to Drew @ S.A. today about parts for the XD

I called Drew today about my replacement for my broken XD 9mm V10, After talking to him about that, he mentioned that in a few more months the parts situation would be resolved and that the XD owners would be happy with the outcome. Yes it is still a matter of lawsuits against them if we install the part improperly.

Also, He mentioned that a lot of print ad's would be going out on the XD 45 ACP and they will have a large presence at the Shot Show this year. Sounds like they are really going to advertise heavy on this.

He was VERY proud of the fact that they are introducing a new caliber for this gun and the size is basically the same as for the other calibers. Mentioned that the 45gap only holds 8 rounds while the ACP holds 13.

I asked if they keep up to date on the forum here and he assured me that they do review this forum regularly, which is good for us.

My dealings with S.A. over the past 1 1/2 weeks has always been with very helpful people (Drew & Vicki).

I still say the .45 GAP is going to die off...

Glad to hear about the parts situation, still waiting though...

I would recommend all XD owners with an interest in the parts policy of SA to send them an Email and voice your encouragement in having them review their parts policy. He's what I sent them this evening:

This evening I read (on an XDforum) that Springfield may (in the future) reconsider making XD parts available to the public. I WOULD GREATLY APPRECIATE AND ENCOURAGE this policy change. During the course of shooting one of the many steel action matches I participate in it is EXTREMELY COMFORTING to know IF BY CHANCE a part breaks in my XD i.e. an extractor or slide lock spring I have the ability and knowledge to change the broken part with an extra I could carry in my range bag. I would not have to forfeit my participation because of a weapon breakage. Things do happen and it's just nice to know I wouldn't have to go through the bureaucratic nonsense of sending my XD back to Springfield for something I am perfectly capable of fixing myself. Please, for the benefit of all the XD owners (and future owners) out there, reconsider your parts allowance policy. In reality, a person isn't going to order an extra extractor UNLESS THEY HAVE THE KNOWLEDGE OF HOW TO MAKE THE FIX THEMSELVES. If you don't know how to replace struts on your car (yourself) you wouldn't by them if they need replacing, BUT if you're fully knowledgable and capable of replacing the struts on your car, then you should have the opportunity to fix them yourself (your choice in the matter). Thank you for listening.

A new dedicated XD40 owner (trying to convince others to "join the club")

I sent my email but haven't received a reply yet. I really hope they change this as I'm used to having spare parts for all of my firearms.
