New to the site and to XD's

But I just picked up a new XD40SC yesterday. I couldnt find a store that had the G27 and the XD40SC in so I could hold them both together. Fella at a gun show yesterday had tables and tables full of brand new guns with good prices, so I decided on the XD and think I came out on top.

Nah, not yet. This is no where near my first gun. In fact, I also got an 1875 Schofield .44-40 top-break replica yesterday, too. A .44 caliber with the kick of a .32 is pretty cool.
Thanks, though.

I do have one question though. Are there any tricks or "mods" that people do to the XD's themselves to improve on anything?

I am also new here, but to answer your question, there are lots of "tricks".
The cheapest (i think) is to change out your recoil spring (heavier or lighter depending on your personal taste) and to change out the guide rod to a 1 piece guide rod in stainless steel. You can get all this at www.pistol-gear.com
The next step is to get a trigger job from http://www.canyon-creek.com/xd.htm. These are just a few things people seem to start with. Hope this helps.

If your new gun is going to be used as a primary defensive piece, you might consider a sight upgrade. Fiber-optics...night sights, etc.

Welcome to the forum.

Welcome to the XDtalk forum Millero. About those fiberoptics and night sights you mentioned Frenchy, any suggestions for a XDSC9mm that still has the stock sights attached? What do you personally think are superior all around general duty sights for use in the light and dark?

The Tru-Glo that James carries seem to be the best of all worlds. They have both Tritium and the fiber-optic.

Hey!!...3000 posts...
