UPDATE ARRGHH V10 cracked slide UPDATE B.A.T.F. info? Pg5
Well, like the subject line says, my ported 9mm is broken. The top strap on the slide is cracked from left to right, right at the muzzle end of the openings for the port vents. (no pictures yet)
I have only run about 2000 rounds thru her, those being about 500 Wolf, 500 umc and 1000+/- WWB, no reloads. I noticed it today after having been to the range Thursday night with my daughter. This makes me very sad. I know, I know, SA will make it right, I just don't want to be without my gun. I was going to sign up for my concealed carry permit tomorrow. Now that will wait. I have a family reunion coming up where I was to take my nephews shooting, that will have to wait. Bummer. Question- will they just replace the slide, so I have unmatching numbers, or will they replace the whole gun? Anybody know? PLEASE don't tell me they will "fix it" with a welder!!! Anybody have a "loner" XD they can lone me while mine is gone?? j/k Now to write an e-mail to S.A. |

I'm sure they will replace the slide and not fix it...lol.
Sorry to hear of your bum luck.

Interesting question. Say tec had duracoated his slide, would he be stuck with a regular one again? Would he even be able to get a replacement? Just curious.

I have heard of companys reissuing a SN as in if you replace the slide, they will destroy the old slide, and print the same SN on the new slide.

Don't put off getting your CCW. Most will borrow you a pistol at no extra charge.

bevis Posted: can you post some pics of the crack. i have a vested interest. thanks Will definitely do so Sir, hobocircus Posted It would take months to do that. It's a long way to Croatia I have the same pistol, I wonder about mine now too. Tec, go buy a Tactical like I did I really want matching numbers on the gun for when I give it to my daughter when I am pushing up Daisy's. I tell ya, as far as buying another, I was going to be a one gun house, but with this breaking, I just might be going out to buy another this week. Coarse, thats gonna tick off the wife cuz our quarterly taxes are due, but, she hasn't gotten my anniversary present yet (Nov 21), so, another gun might be it. [/quote]

tec, for some reason I don't think these polymer pistols are going to be around like the steel guns of our past. They just don't strike me as durable enough to be passed down from generation to generation. I'm no scientist and am probably wrong. But I think these plastic guns will break down over time. I feel the same way about these darn engineered beams they put into houses now. I mean, it is glued. All the old antique furniture I see needs re-glueing. I think a hundred years from now that glued beam is going to come apart. But I guess these vinyl sided houses aren't going to last a hundred years anyway. Everything built these days is disposable.
