Don't forget that this forum helps people with problems. It would get kind of old and boring with hundreds of posts of people saying there is nothing wrong with their XD, so generally people usually only post when they have a problem. There are 8,000+ people signed up for this board just to talk about one particular gun, I'd say thats a good endorsement.

For a new weapon it sure has built a rep to be dependable where it counts so, Live and learn, and do what you can to keep your gun in tip top shape. Of course some failures are unavoidable and some arent, but if you keep your XD well maintained, it could possibly save your life that split second you need it for self defense.

Consider the stress on a gun...any gun, every time you pull the trigger. Then consider the reliability across the board through the years.
Very few manufactured items could boast that record.

I appreciate the offers guys, I am in Toledo Ohio.

I think the reason people mention their problems with the XD is because we are realistic. We know things are going to break. We know things can be fixed. The XD will break. It will be fixed. This is still a relatively new gun. It is undergoing it's evolution, 9mm, 40, 357, 45gap and now the 45 acp. I can't wait to see what SA comes out with next, and my bet is it will be an improvement, not an additional caliber. During this process, SA is watching what breaks and what needs improvement. I would guess that is why we post what breaks. To help them and to help us.

What does living in a third world country, having rights to own firearms, have to do with not wanting a gun that is appearing to have quality issues and definitely has a screwy warranty policy?
I don't know either? I think my clutch is slipping

Remember the old saying? "Engage clutch before putting brain in gear" :P

I agree, I was just saying people may not be seeing the whole story if they come in here looking for recomendations and see a large chunk of the threads being over malfunctions and breaking, then leave thinking 'Oh no thats a problematic gun. I don't want that, look at all the people complaining.'
