Beretta mag springs do work!! More inside with pics...
Adding the +2 Pearce extensions to my mags maxed out the reach of the factory springs with the 15 rounders and 16 rounders. Since Wolff didn't make XD hicap specific mag springs I decided to try the Beretta 92 +10% ones out.
Well what do you know? They work!! The 15 round mags accepted the springs with no mods necessary. The determining factor was the follower. The 15 round follower and 16 are totally different. I'll explain with pictures. 15 round mag follower. The Wolff coil slips right on it. ![]() The 16 round mag follower. The spring coil has to sit inside it. ![]() Comparing the coils from the 15 round spring and the Wolff spring. They are identical with the exception of length. ![]() ![]() Here's where the difference was.. The factory top coil on the 16 round mag is much slimmer allowing it to sit inside the follower. ![]() I had to bend the top coil a little to help it sit inside a bit better. ![]() (L-R: Wolff +10%, Factory spring for 16 round mag, modded Wolff) Here they are installed.. ![]() Note: These are my range/comp mags so I'm not worried about them malfunctioning. I'm not worred about the 15 rounders as everything installed without a hitch. Nothing is binding or catching. I'll have my eye out on the 16 though. I'll let you guys know how it turns out. |

Here's a Beretta 92 +10% mag spring installed with the factory baseplate on a 15 rounder.. All 15 rounds loaded without a hitch.
