9mm back ordered
I have been following this board for the last several weeks and finally desided to make a posting. I just recently got my CT CCW permit and took me a little while to deside on which pistol I wanted. Finally after trying 9mm 5" frame XD I found the pistol that seemed to fit my hand nicely. Mid week I went down to the local shop and placed an order. 3 days now and waiting apparently this things are so hot they cant keep them in stock. They are out of stock at 2 local stores as well as the instate distributer. One store is trying to locate one from out of state. I hope that the popularity for this pistols is a result of their quality and not just a fad. At the store they obviously have many accessories as well. So far on my list I have a Hops 9 cleaning kit, extra patchs, extra mag, speed loader and holster. Is there anything that I am missing that you guys would recommend. Mind you this is my first pistol so I needed to get the "basic" supplies.
Well I will keep you updated with my status and experience on the range with this, and looking fowards to many more posts on the board. |

From what I've seen, the 5" tactical models have always been hard to come by. It seems like my local gunshop only gets 'em one at a time and they don't stay long. I think SA just doesn't make as many of those compared to the 4" Service models.

I noticed you mention that you have a CCW and this is your first gun so I say congrats first of all. However have you tried the service model? It would be a little easier to conceal. If that is your main purpose if you plan on getting into competition the 5" would be better

Yes this is my first pistol purchase. I wanted a larger framed gun just to get comforatable with shooting and the basics in technic down before I went to a small pistol. As it turns out they ordered the xd-9 with the 4 inch barrel anyway. So thats what i wound up taking. It came with a outside the pants holtser and 3 high mag clips for just over 500+tax. I just got back from walmart picking up a few hundred rounds of wwb and looking foward to going to the range tomarrow. Ill let ya guys know how I do.

Sportsman's Warehouse here in Colorado Springs is also on back order. I'm on the list for an XD-9 Tactical, but they've been out since late December! Hope they get some soon...

Well I took the xd-9 service model and put 300 rds threw it today. Very nice it shoots awsome and felt good in the hand. The only think i need to do is get a speed loader cause loading 3 16 mag clips gets to wear on your fingers after a while
