Follow up to trigger work
I finally got a new camera with macro, so here are my crazy XD innards.
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I, in no way, endorse taking apart your XD pistol beyond field stripping, or changing it in any way, be it grinding, polishing, or leaving it outside over night.

Cool way of shortening the reset. I'll post some pics of my mod this afternoon. I shortened the pretravel. I've been wanting use a screw for the pretravel and overtravel but haven't found one that's the right kind. Still haven't done anything with the reset. I'd like to find a spring kit to lighten the trigger pull.

Trigger work my me and htown.
I do not recomend anybody doing this and if they do they do at thier own risk. I polished all the contact points, installed spring to reduce reset. Installed a shim to reduce pretravel. Tapped the trigger bar to reduce over travel but haven't installed it yet. Polished and took some metal off the fireing pin saftey and fireing pin in order to allow the fireing pin saftey leaver to work right. ![]() Put a spring to push the fireing pin saftey leaver up. To reduce reset. ![]() Intalled a shim on the trigger bar to get rid of pretravel. The shim is a piece of aluminium from a coke can. ![]() ![]()

Cool pics and that is definitely an interesting mod Agalindo! So by merely placing a piece of aluminum between the trigger bar and polymer frame you were able to reduce or totally remove pre travel? Being an XD SC 9mm owner and seeing as how I am not as mechanically adept as you guys, perhaps picking up a lasersight or getting a trigger job done will keep me busy. I should really learn more about the XD gun itself, just to familarize myself with how the weapon works with all of constituent parts.

Yea I couldn't think of anything else to use for the pretravel. I didn't want to drill a hole and put a screw in the frame again. I didn't want to use a beer can.

Kudos on the spring idea! Absolutely brilliant. Eureka! And of course I just gave my XD to my brother-in-law. (I'll ask for it back once he can afford a gun) Otherwise I'd be trying to make a spring (or something).

I need to find a scew for the trigger bar to reduce the overtravel. I drilled and installed one but it was too short.

Nice work guys. Where did you learn to modify firearms like that? I am an engineering student, so naturally I am curious about how things work and then tuning them to fit my needs. I am no stranger to technical work or machine shops, but this is my first handgun, and I'm not all that experienced with the innards of firearms in general. Are there any online resources or books that could aid me in this learning? I don't want to simply follow a writeup on how to mod the gun, I want to know what each component does and how they work together.
