Any real problems with carrying a XD tactical as my CCW?
When I bought my XD, I didn't think I would ever get my CWP but the more I shoot and have my XD, the more I want to get one so, I'm going to be taking the class at the end of the month.
Now, I have an XD45LE tactical and would like to use that for my CCW. I'm a pretty small guy, 5'4, 110lbs and was wondering if I would have any real problems carrying? I usually wear a jacket or sweatshirt when it's below 72 degrees so I can carry OWB without a problem but as far as IWB, would it be best to carry in a holster on my back? I figure you guys are the experts and can give me the best advice. Btw, here's a pic of me taken recently: ![]() Cheers

I reccomend baggier pants and a tall tee from Foot Locker or champs. The button up shirt is a good plus. .

If you were carrying in that pic, I just hope that was an alcohol free beverage you finished.

I think a guy your size will have trouble carrying a Tactical comfortably.
It's possible, but I think there are better options for you.

if there is a will, there is a way.
I carry a 4", I'm 5'9" at 160. In the summer its iwb, and winter its a fletch high-ride galco. It will be harder for you, but it can be done, esp with the button down shirt that you have on. |

Bro, I feel your pain. I'm only 5'7" and scrawny as hell. However, I don't have much a problem concealing my XD9, its a 4" service model, but the only part that is semi-hard to conceal is the grip. With the holster, you may tend to change how you dress, or just dress a certain way in order to conceal effectively. Where I live its quite cold for a few months, which really helps a lot in concealing. Some people also will move the holster around to conceal the grip more effectively. Anyway its a trial and error process where you have to experiment on how to conceal.
Best wishes on getting your CCW, it could very well be one of the smartest decisions of your life and could very well save your life one day if the SHTF. |
