.357 Sig XDSC Conversion Barrel

Well, I had a poll set up but I didn't realize that there was a Polling Place forum now, so it got moved. Since no one ever visits that forum, I thought I'd drop a note here as well. If you have any interest in a .357 SIG conversion for your XDSC, please visit the Polling Place forum and chime in. I personally think that there would be a lot of interest in such a conversion. I'd buy a XDSC in 40 S&W and a .357 SIG barrel in a heartbeat.

I hope this doesn't violate any rules of the forum to post a link to another part of a forum - here goes:

http://www.hs2000talk.com/viewtopic.php?t=29386

Also, a completely friendly note to admins: If you don't want people making polls anywhere else but the Polling Place, it might be nice to remove the option from the posting page. I don't know how time consuming this would be, but it would save you guys from constantly needing to move polls over to a specific forum. Just a thought!

Thanks for the suggestion on the polling option.

I am in full agreement with you on the 357SIG conversion
barrel for the XD40. God, I would love it and pray that SA
will come up with the combo. But first let me say this, I own
several 40s that I also have conversion barrels in 357SIG.
They all work, at least for me.

The Glock 27 happens to be one of these machines that I
have in three flavors. No problems at all with me shooting
the machine. Glock will not let out the numbers, and I doubt
seriously that the after market barrel makers keep track,
but the point to be made here is this: the 357SIG in a sub
compact machine is a totally different animal to contain and
control.

Dear ol' Kel-Tec learned their lesson well on that one. First
their P11 9mm, then the P40, then their offering where one
could purchase the complete 40 upper and install on your
P11 frame. All who have owned the P40 will tell you the
same as I say here, it kicks like a damn mule and is not for
the faint at heart. Most people did not know that K-T offered
the 357SIG conversion barrel for install in the P40 or the 40
slide package. K-T never did offer up the K-T in just the
357SIG package by itself. There was a reason for that, the
P40 was not for everyone, nor was the 357SIG conversion
barrel. The latter, and I do hope that you have fired the
357SIG round, has just that certain amount of turnoff that
it never did catch on. Justifiably, K-T took the P40 off the
market, because of too much feedback.............from what
I call the 'crybabies'. By the way, Ken at K-T still has the
357SIG barrel for sale. I like the 357SIG round fired from
any machine, regardless of manufacture. Let me add this,
the most potent package in my arsenal is the K-T with the
357SIG barrel.

Thanks for the input, Ed!

That's the great thing about the XD. The sub-compact isn't really that sub-compact. Sure it's a little smaller, but it still sits comfortably in the hand. As far as weight, it's only a few ounces lighter. Recoil of the .357 SIG through the XDSC might be stiff, but I don't think it will be unmanageable.

I carry the 9mm XD service model IWB without difficulty when I can wear an untucked shirt. I just want something a little more compact, as I find myself opting for a S&W airweight j-frame more and more due to the fact that I can slip it into the pocket so easily.

I had thought about getting a service XD and cutting down the frame, but I think the combination of the .357 SIG recoil with the forward-heavy balance of the cut-down service model might be a bit awkward. I think the solution is to buy a .40 XDSC and just hope that eventually EFK comes around and decides to make a barrel for us.

I currently have an XD-40SC and quite honestly I would not want any more snap or kick from this pistol....you can call me a wimp or whatever but I think the XD-40 SC feels great the way it is! I don't really see a need for an XD-357 sig IMO

I love my XD-40 SC but am selling it to get a XD-45ACP...or possibly an XD-40 service. I WILL miss it but I don't need two CC pistols and the XD-9 fits me fine....plus it has a CC trigger job, finish and Meprolights.

I couldnt imagine wanting MORE snap or kick or recoil or whatever you want to call it out of this package. More power to you that want it, but it is not for me. The XD-40 is a champ is the way it is.

P.S. If anyone IS interested in an XD-40 SC klick the link below!

Not much experience with the 357 Sig, but I have shot a mags worth from the Glock mini...It was kinda fun. Didn't seem to be a control problem for me, but of course that's subjective.

I just put a box of .357's through my Sig229 carry gun lastnight. Man I LOVE that round, one ragged hole at 25 feet and exhilerating recoil, follow-up shots are still rapid and accurate .

Then I put 200 through my .40...not bad but definately not the .357. I would LOVE a small gun in .357, recoil is measured by the shooter and I for one dont find it that much of a problem. Sure I can make lots of very fast follow-up shots with my .22 but it takes alot more of them than it does a .357 . Shot placement is everything but the extra shock factor and energy allow more room for error.
