Springfield Customer Service comes through again.

My XD-9 Bi-tone Service suddenly stopped ejecting spent casings after 10,217 rounds. It was obvious that something was broken so I sent it off to Springfield for repair on December 17th. Springfield had it back in my hands on January 5th which was only six working days later. The replaced the locking block, reamed the chamber and tuned the extractor. I finally had a chance to wring it out on the range yesterday and everything worked perfectly for the 100 rounds I had time to fire.

I thought this was great service from Springfield. The fixed the problem without any hassle and did it very quickly.

I did have to pay $50 to Fed-Ex the pistol to them to begin with. Anyone know if they are still compensating owners for the initial shipping and, if so, what the process is to get reimbursed?

I believe they are, they told me before I got an RMA number that I would need to call back later, with that number and they can pay you for the shipping.

I sent my gun with a copy of the $50.00 FedEx bill in on 12/14. Got the gun back on 1/03, but I'm still waiting for my shipping fee to be reimbursed. If it hasn't arrived by Friday I'm going to call Springfield and see what they have to say.

They have used my money interest free long enough!

I'm going to show my ignorance here and this may sound like a silly question, but if you ship your pistol to SA for warranty work, when they ship it back, does it have to go to an FFL, or do they ship it back directly to you?? I'm guessing because there's no transfer of ownership, it comes right back to you. Yes??

Not the address they have "on record", it comes back from the address it was sent from. Non-Type 01 FFLs can return a gun that was sent from the customer to the same address as it was sent to them from.

The above and sending your gun elsewhere to yourself in care of someone else (i.e. you don't want to fly with it) is about the only two things a non licensed person can do.
