New XD owner and forum user
I bought my first XD yesterday after considerable research, much of it done right here. This forum is an excellent source of information.
I chose the XD40 service and found a new one with the entire kit (3 mags, mag holder, holster, loader, lock, cleaning brush and case) at a local store for $479. It was a tuff choice because everyone I know owns glocks and wouldn't consider anything else. That may change soon because as soon as I got it they were all over at my house studying it and all but begging to take it to the range. I've taken it apart and back together a dozen times to get used to it and really like the design. I managed to scratch the slide slightly with the take-down lever, didn't bother me too much, I've been banging weapons around in the Army for 15 years and expect this one to hold up just as well. I hope to get it to the range next weekend and see if it's as good as everyone says. I'll save my questions until I browse through some of the past postings. Simon |

x2
I also am a new member and XD owner. I did the same. Lots of research and 98% of it coming from this forum. thanks to everyones great posts. I purchased a XD-9 tactical saturday and will pick it up tuesday (ILLINOIS 3 day waiting period). Just wanted to tell everyone thanks. I am looking to purchase a new guide rod (the heavier one) and a 16# spring and a 22# spring to see/feel the results from both and adding the new guide rod should help reduce muzzle flip. Thanks again everyone!

Welcome to both of you & congrats on your new XD's.
Simon, Enjoy. If your friends talk enough smack, don't let them shoot it. Or let one of them shoot it so he can brag to others about what they are missing. Bubba, I think you'll find the recoil/muzzle flip very manageable...even without the heavier guide rod. It's a blast to shoot.
