New XD owner with some questions
Just traded my Keltec P3At for a XD-9. with some $ to boot.
I haven't shot it yet but have some questions. 1. Has anyone put a red dot scope on thier XD? I have trifocals and red dots definately help. 2. Are there reliable mags available with greater than 15 capacity? 3. magazine loaders? I also have a Steyr M9 and wonder if the mag loader for the XD (if one is available) would also fit it? 4. Any special set up modifications or preparations needed before going to the range? 5. any ammo that the XD doesn't seem to like? |

1. I've seen some posts with a red dot. I believe there's a glock accessory that fits the rail on the XD which provides a weaver rail on the top to mount optics. 2. I received an offer with my XD to purchase a 17 rd mag. I didn't purchase it though and can't comment on their reliability. 3. Don't know. Don't use one. 4. Nope. 5. I haven't found a type that mine doesn't like. I've used UMC, Winchester target, HydroShock, and Atlanta Arms (reloads). All have worked fine for my gun. Others have reported that one type works better than others. But it seems to very. I'd just say trial & error. I'd strongly recommend that whatever you want to use for defense, make sure you buy some & test it's performance at the range. You don't want a life & death situation being your first time firing that type of ammo through your gun. Given you've owned others, it's probably not news to you. But I thought it best to mention it. Be safe & have fun with your new gun. |

2. You can get a 2 round extension base.
3. I have an HKS that works great for under $10. I can't remember the model number but Pistol Gear or AJames sells them. I love the XD but those mag lips are *&^%$#@! sharp! It really helps on the sore thumbs. 5. Tire irons, nails and chains.

Someone gave you cash and an XD for a Kel Tec P3AT? I would say you made out like a bandit.
