Might also buy an XD SC but need some pics..
I already own the XD9 in Service model. My wife and I both use it for HD and I routinely CCW with it when my wife is not at home. When she is home and I have to go out, I leave it for her. I have come up with some extra cash that will allow us to get something she can CCW and have with her at home when I need to go out. SO....
I was looking at something a little smaller than the Service for her since she is not comfortable with the size of the Service for CCW. The XD SC is certainly in the running for purchase but I only have the measurements between the 2 and not an accurate picture of them side by side for size comparison. I was hoping someone here would be able to take a few pics of their Service model and SC model side-by-side so we could visually see the difference between the 2 models. If someone had a few pics of the 2 side-by-side that could help us see the physical size difference that would be a great help! Thanks in advance if someone could help us out!

When it comes down to it, the sub isn't small enough to be a true "sub"

gddyup, it is not my intent to insult you of course, but why don't you just go down to a gun store and see it for yourself. This of course, would be better than pictures anywho. I offer this since you didn't mention in your post that you don't have gun stores available. Or is it the stores don't have the 2 models.
I carry a sub 9mm for ccw use everday and true, it isn't the smallest gun in the world (my S&W 5 shot model 60 revolver is much smaller), but I do it with no problem. Your wife, depending on her stature, might have a difficult time. Good luck. |

Thanks for the pics and the help guys!
The wife and I do plan on an excursion to Kittery Trading Post next week to go through a bunch of handguns to see which she likes and doesn't like. I wanted to get an idea of how different in size the 2 XD models were so that she could at least have an idea. I agree 100% with getting to put them in her hand to help decide which ones she likes.

Still new here, but found it funny that a buddy of mine went out and got the SC so that it "was smaller to carry" then put the Hi-Cap mag with the pierce extender on it thus making the grip the same size as the service model. Now the only difference is the 3/4" longer length... which seems insignificant in concealment since that's normally vertical difference while carrying anyway. Just interesting.
