10,000 Rounds through my XD-9!
During my visit to the range this morning, I fired the ten thousandth round through my trusty XD-9. I'm now at 10,095 but who's counting?
During that time, the gun has functioned amost flawlessly. The only exceptions were: 1. A FTE at round 65. Looked to possibly be a bad cartridge because it came out all blackened. 2. Around round 6500 I found out that you can wear out a Wolff recoil spring. One I had the third FTF in one session, I knew something was wrong. I installed a $7 replacement 22# Wolff spring and all was well with the world again. 3. At last week's USPSA match, I foolishly mixed a mag of WWB 115 JHP and Americ 115 FMJ. I'd been using the Amerc for practice and had a few rounds left along with a handfull of the JHPs. I just wanted to get rid of the odd rounds. Lesson learned -- stick with good 'ol WWB 115 FMJ for matches. Modifications have been limited to a Don's rod/22# Wolff spring combo and a Canyon Creek trigger job that has been worth every cent I paid for it. To celebrate the 10,000 round mark, I'm going to treat it to some TFO fiber optic night sights from AJames. I'm going to let my XD have the night off but tomorrow it goes back to work at this week's USPSA match. Bottom Line - This is an outstanding pistol. It is very accurate, reliability is near perfect, the ergonomics are outstanding and it is a bargain to boot. Given Sprinfield's life time warranty, I plan to hold onto this pistol for about that long!

I noticed you use the #22 spring. What led you to this choice? Had you tried a #16 also?
