C-TAC holster came in the mail today. My wife scooped it up and wrapped it to put under the tree. I have to wait until to morrow to play. I am still waiting for the belt. It should be about two more weeks.

I am wearing the C-TAC holster. I am adjusting the holster. I am trying it with jeans, Dockers and slacks. I am wondering if I bought the wrong holster?
The C-TAC is very adjustable, and I like the snap when re-holstering. It holds the gun secure, but allows an easy draw. A nice snick when the gun is drawn. It does not seem to hide the gun better than my pancake Don Hume. One thing it really does better, is allow access to side and back pockets. If I wear the holster uh-tucked with a cover, like a jacket or sweater or shirt out it does a great job. I don't like the way pants or jeans bulge when wearing only pants and a tucked in shirt. It looks odd, misshapen. Then there are the clips, which are hard to miss. I will keep working with different settings and see if I can find a position that hides the bulge when wearing only a shirt and slacks. -- Richard |

Thanks for the reply. As a left hander I like to wear on the other side. This morning it feels much better and I am wearing the CTAC at about half way between 9 and 10 O'clock. In this position it allows me the most range of motion, standing, sitting and access to pockets with out exposing the gun or belt clips. It is untucked and I wear a light weight Polortec pull over to hide the gun and waistline. The only issue left is how to make it look natural with only slacks and a tucked shirt? -- Richard |

My wife and I met another couple for lunch today. Ken also wears a C-TAC, setup as a cross draw. With jeans and a blue shirt I could not see the gun. His shirt today was a fairly stiff blue shirt, also puffed out. He was a carrying Glock 23. I have influenced his brother to buy an XD9sc. I am working on Ken, but he is heavy into Glocks. I plan to buy a second pistol early in 2006 and am looking hard at XD's sub-compact pistol. I know the shorter grip will help hide the gun. I really my service model XD with a four inch barrel, and larger capacity. And I don't want to give it up! What do you think? After a whole day with this holster I really like it. Plus it is easy to take off and put on if necessary. -- Richard |

XD-9sc in C-TAC holster
Okay, an update for the C-TAC holster. After the initial panic was over, the one that I thought will it really do the job. Well it does the job. It is a truly wonderful holster. I am so use to this holster I plan to try using it for IDPA. After all it is the holster I carry everyday! I went to the Red Castle Gun Club with some fellow IDPA shooters and drew from this holster for several hours. I put over 150 rounds through the XD-9 service pistol. Had a great day and felt that I drew better from the C-TAC holster than from my leather paddle holster.
To top things off I decided to purchase a sub-compact XD-9 and use the service model for IDPA and range shooting. I plan to carry the sub-compact as CCW. I will shoot several IDPA matches with the sub-compact because it will become my carry gun. I go this comming Thursday to try out the new sub-compact before I carry it. One gotcha! I am always the last to know. My service model XD-9 is smaller then the sub-compact frame, which is built on the .40 caliber frame. I wonder if the C-TAC holster can be adjusted to fit my new XD-9sc? -- Richard |

That's what I thought. But I discovered that the XD-40/357sig frame is 0.05 larger than the XD-9. It seems to me I should be able to let out the C-TAC holster to fit the sub-compact. When I tried to do that I found that the adjustment bolts on the holster were too short and were about to come out of the holster. I wonder if I can find bolts to use just for the sub-compact? Or I might have some made. I really like this holster. I know Comp-Tac makes a holster just for the sub-compact pistol. When I have more cash that would be the best solution. But, I would rather spend that money on cartridges!

CTAC holsters!
I have several CTAC and CTAC Slide holsters for my single and double stack 1911 pistols. At the outset let me say that I am a very happy user. Given the different shapes and widths associated with single and double stack pistols the chances to experiment with height, positioning, cant,
combinations that are afforded by the CTAC is just marvelous. I can get each pistol just right. To me that is important. While I have tried a number of different belt clips I find the standard ones to work best for me.
