CVA muzzle loader double loaded.
So, one of my friends brought a CVA muzzle loader over. It had a double load in it, one powder, wad, slug on top of another complete load. So, we did the string around the trigger, and take cover thing. Everything came out, gun didn't kaboom. Everything looks OK, but still concerned whether it's safe to fire. I don't think the second charge ignited, pretty sure it was just pushed out the barrel. I think it's probably OK, but thought I'd double check here. That octagon barrel is pretty heavy duty looking.

when I asked about going with a heavier sabot than recommended (I was thinking about a cast 405gr .458 cal bullet), people kept acting like it would be a bomb. I don't see how, especially since CVA says I could run other types of bullets that heavy. I just assumed the published 300gr limit foe sabots was about stabilization concerns
I've heard double triple and more loading was quite common in the civil war, like how you might check 2 or 3 times if the stove is off before leaving the house.

Glad it worked out. But I would have suggested using one of those CO2 dischargers.
There is an old saying. " a muzzler loader shooter that claims never to have messed up a load is either a very new beginner or a damn liar"
I have done the "patched ball down the barrel without powder" more than once. Duh!

When I was young I watched a muzzle loader blow up in my brothers face.
I decided maybe that weapon wasn't for me.

Tried a bullet puller, it failed.

He made several attempts with a bullet puller before we resorted to this. It didn't work, it just bored through the bullet, and stripped out. To tell you the truth, I was kinda looking forward to a kaboom, and marveling at the destruction. I didn't expect it to survive, but it did.

Tried blowing it out with the air compressor, must not have been enough pressure. 135 PSI and it didn't budge. I think the bullet puller made the second slug expand, and really stick in the barrel.
