slide locks open during firing

XD40SC
I previously asked about this in a recent entry and can now give more information.
During recent firing of my pistol the slide locks open after a few rounds and this happens with only One magazine which is a 12 round type that I have isolated and I noted the u shaped slot on the left side top, from the back a minute bulge in at the slot top front.
Im careful about my two hand hold that my shumb doesnt push the slid catch up to lock the slide open.
The round does not stove pipe or nose down on the loading ramp but is seated in the magazine streight ahead.
The pistol has had Approximately 900 Rounds through it.
I use the white box winchester 100 round boxes using 165 grain bullets.
The pistol is cleaned after each range trip.
Has anyone had this problem, and how did you solve it?
Thanks for You,re help.

Sounds to me like that particular magazine has been bent to cause the slide to lock somehow. Call me crazy, but if it only happens with one magazine, I'd just not use it. You might have an armorer look it over if you feel it's worth throwing money at to fix it. Is it a stock SA or aftermarket mag?

You solve a faulty magazine problem by contacting SA customer support and using the awesome warranty to your advantage. Seriously, give them a call and tell them what you told us and I'm willing to bet they'll do a magazine exchange for you.

Agree with previous posters... if it is the one mag... put that one aside and see if you can get it replaced or whatever. If it happens on other mags, take a look at the slide lock lever/spring.

My Glock 23 had turned into a single-shot. The so-called "gunsmith" that looked at it said it was a broken mag release. He fixed / upgraded that for me... but it didn't solve the problem. (If I didn't like the extended mag release better than stock I'd be pissed... but I like the upgrade).

A second guy looked at it and found the slide lock spring needed to be replaced. I did that and it is back up and running 100%.

I'd recommend you look at the magazine first.... the slide lock next... and if that doesn't help, the mag release.

Strange? No. Could be a problem with the bullet's profile touching the slide release and bumping it up during firing, or it could be a shooter bumping it with their hand during the course of fire. Since your mags are right, and you've isolated the problem to one mag, let's replace it and see if there's any further issues. Be sure to give SA full details on why the mag is a problem so if the new one doesn't fix it, they have the issue on record for when you may have to send in your pistol to be inspected.
