which light/laser combo
I plan to purchase my first gun, a 9mm XDm 4.5", in the near future. It will live in a fingerprint safe next to my bed for bump-in-the-night issues, not as a carry gun.
I would like to have a light and maybe a laser on it, and I'd be happy to hear suggestions.
My main ideas were a crimson trace lasergrip and lightguard, or a SureFire of Viridian light and laser combo.
What are the real advantages or disadvantages to either setup?

I have a 9mm XDm 4.5" myself and have both the CT lasergrips and CT lightguard on it.
Works well for me and maintains a nice slim profile.

I just picked up a Veridian C5L and its amazing. Super bright light and laser. Didn't add much weight or bulk up the gun that much either  . Went on my 3.8 compact without any issues. Also considered CT but didn't care for the options that were available for the compact.

+2 on the Viridian C5L, I love this very little light/laser. When you decide to start carrying it Viridian makes a locking holster for guns with their light/laser on it. Its called the Tacloc. i picked up a streamlight tlr-4 light/laser combo for my nightstand xd. its a little cheaper than most of the other options due to the plastic housing but as long as you take care of it, it works great.

I went with the X5L for my XD40. I wont be carring this one so no need for the ECR or a holster. So I decided to save some $$ and get a refurbished unit from xfighterdefense.com $260 and free shipping. Screws show some wear but everthing else looks new.
