Custom Range Box

So I was looking for a hard case range box that would hold the XDm, a few mags, some ammo, and other regular SL3. I looked around and didn't find anything I liked for anywhere near the price I wanted to pay.

I remembered I had a couple iM2400 Storm Cases used as laptop boxes from my trips overseas but the foam was completely useless for a pistol range box.




Since I had two of them I decided to canibalize the foam from one to try to fill in the other. It worked perfectly.





I then proceeded to remove some of the filler foam (for the Ammo and the slot on the right) and cut out spots for the gun, ear plugs, glasses, and mags. I then covered it with some horrible highly moto fabric to cover the differences in the pieces and attempt to give it a more finished look... The foam on the right (cleaning gear etc...) and the pieces in the middle (for mags) are place holders as the cloth finishes adhering.



It's not perfect but it should work well for the range. Overall it is a bit bigger than I was originally planning on and has the dead space under the pistol and ear plugs but I am very satisfied with what I got for about $10 additional outlay for the cloth and spray adhesive.

nice work, very creative. Did you not get a box with your XDm? Hey, if you buy an XDs, it comes with a really nice box that you could do your foam cutting trick on to fit a bigger gun

I have the box it came in with all of the gear but didn't want to cut it up. It's good for storing what I won't be using and it's nice to have the OEM case if I want to put it in there.
