How concealable is an OWB holster?
As the title says. I'm 5'9 180lbs. I mostly wear t-shirts and jeans or cargo shorts. How concealable would an owb holster be? I wear an XL shirt, regular length, if it matters. Or am I better of with an iwb?
Thanks!

When I use OWB holsters, I try to use high riding holsters. These basically place the bulk of the firearm above the belt line and a good gun belt helps greatly to hold it up and tight against your body. When concealed, it hides just about as well as a IWB holster.
Good Luck And Be Safe!!!

I'm about your size and carry with a SERPA holster.
Trying to conceal a SERPA with a tshirt doesn't work for me and I wouldn't suggest you do it.
I regularly either open carry or carry with a jacket to cover the weapon.

To be perfectly honest, you'd be better off with IWB. I tried OWB first, but it wasn't concealable. Not to my standards at least. IWB is the way to go.

I carry an XD 9mm SC in an open top Tagua speed holster. I am 6'1" and go 213. I have no problems concealing. In the winter it is easy. I have a great collection of Aloha shirts for summer. Lucky I have a brother in Hawaii who gives me all his high dollar cast-offs. I usually load the 13rd mag in the pistol (cuts down on the profile) and carry the 16rd on the other side in an open Bianchi leather mag carrier. It helps balance out the weight very nicely. I am rarely without it.

I am about your size as well. I find most IWB holsters to be uncomfortable, due to pinching. I dress pretty much as you do as well, only jeans instead of cargo shorts. With a good OWB holster I can conceal anything from my 5" 1911 to my Chiefs special sized revolver. Depending to weather here in Wyoming I may also be wearing a jacket or coat over my T-shirt. As stated above, the hoster must fit close to the body to work, and the muzzle should be high enough the when you move you arms normally the t-shirt doesn't expose the end of your gun.
Of course it helps that here in Wyoming it doesn't matter how we cary as all carry is legal here without a permit, for residents. And for nonresidents open cary is legal as well. So showing your gun accidently is ussually not an issue.

Darn, forgot to say the gun in question is an XDM compact 9mm. But I was fondling a Springfield Range Officer last night and am going to pick one up very soon. It won't be my EDC, but I'm sure I'll carry it sometimes.
I might even get a Kahr CM or PM9 or a .45 variant for an EDC. But I digress.

That's what I'm thinking. I'm just trying to open up holster options.

It's about your body anatomy and where you carry.
It's about what kind of clothes you wear.
It's about your holster as well as the gear you select to support your holster, and how you set up that gear.
It's about what gun is in the holster.

I have a safariland owb that i use for open carry. it is more difficult to conceal with the clothes i wear, so i bought a supertuck that im waiting to be delivered in the next week or two. So now ill use safariland on the range and desert shooting and supertuck when im out and about

So it seems like IWB is my best bet. If I find a high riding OWB I'll give it a try, though.
Thanks, everyone!
