Need left handed Paddle Holster with retention for XDm 40 3.8".

Hi All,
Just got my new XDm 40 3.8" pistol over the weekend. I like the paddle holster that comes with it, like the retention, but it is right handed.
I called Springfield and they do not offer a holster, left handed, for this particular gun.

So I am looking for:

• Paddle style, gun is OWB.
• Retention or locking. Dont like just a loose leather...
• Specifically made for this model. I am leary about holsters that don't specify my exact model and barrel length...
• LEFT HANDED.
• Bonus features:
  • Would like one that is made for the 3.8" barrel, not the 4.5". Why do I need it bigger than it needs to be?
  • Accomodates a light/laser.

Can anyone recommend a product that fits the bill?

Silent Thunder OWB with or without Auto Hood fits all of the criteria you listed with the exception of the light/laser. Garrett Industries Tac-light clam shell fits both bonus features as well.

SA used to send you a left hand holster for free. I guess they were losing too much money doing it or something because I have heard several people say they couldn't get one. It started sometime last year. Their CS would tell people "Oh, we're out... We expect more in *insert random month*"

Then they started telling customers "Sorry, we don't make those in a left hand model."

Which is pure crap. They did make them in a left hand model. They just decided not to any longer.

I'm glad I'm not a southpaw and don't really have to deal with this stuff all the time. Although the two gun look would be pretty tacti-cool at the range right?

In all honesty I have been known to have as many as three pistols in holster on my belt at the range. That's normally only when I bring my kids to the range. I don't want to leave a handgun laying around while I check on them and make sure they are practicing safe firearms handling. So I just grab "mag guns" and stick them in the holster someplace on my belt.

Update - I ended up with a Fobus SP-11.

It has everything I was looking for. I am now hoping that lasermax will make a guide rod laser for my gun, and I will get that to complete the package I want.

i havent heard anything good about fobus...just that they were cheap.... i was thinking of getting one, then decided on the blackhawk serpa II.

So far so good with the fobus. It is comfortable and fits the gun. Trigger is covered too. Seems well built and goes off and on pretty easily.

Not specific for your gun, but I just posted pics of my twin 45's ( http://www.xdtalk.com/forums/photo-g...ml#post2714413 ) and was looking for a left handed holster. I just got off the phone with them and they are sending a LH holster for free, not even charging shipping. Hope that might help someone else looking for a LH.

I called them twice, talked to two different people, they said they didn't have them, for my gun anyway. (XDm 40 cal 3.8")
I ended up getting a Fobus which is very similar.

Where can I purchase the paddle holster your talking about (Fobus?) where can I get one of these for my XDm 40 Cal 3.8?

I seem to come across a lot of sites that state SA don't have left handed paddle holsters for the 3.8 but lots of people that have the XD can get them for free.

I like the paddle style, does the Fobus style allow for laser sights too?

Can anyone recommend a certain holster for this type of gun?

I use the standard Blackhawk Serpa for my 3.8 XDM 40. Works perfect.
