I hope someone other than the CMP sells them. I qualifty to buy one from the CMP, but I think it's more fair to allow any legal US citizen to purchase one.

I hope to get one. My dad served in Korea in the infantry and one of those rifles may very well have been carried by him.

You'd think that if the the writer of the article used the term "en-bloc" that he'd know how to spell it correctly.

"87,000 M1 Garands gathering dust in South Korean storage may soon get the green light for importation to the US."

I'll give him a pass for not correctly spelling in french.

CMP has said that they are NOT getting them. That leaves me wondering who will be importing them then.

That's good that they may come back, but I want an M1 carbine. North korea is suppose to have a bunch of those too, but there not coming back from what I heard.

And I agree with CMP not being the sole dealer to be able to sell them, let other dealers get involved too. And sell them as old military surplus not C&R. I don't want to have to buy a stupid license to buy a gun!

I think you mean South Korea. North Korea would have old AK-47s and 91/30 Mosin-Nagants, no? Israel has (had?) a lot of our M-1 carbines as well.

You don't need a C&R license to purchase a C&R weapon. For a non-holder of a C&R FFL, the purchase of a Curio or Relic is exactly the same as for a normal, modern weapons purchase. The C&R FFL holder can take transfer of the weapon directly from the seller, while you - the non-C&R guy - has to transfer possession through your local FFL gun dealer.

we definitely didnt give any to north korea, but they took over many lands that were south korean before retreating, they certainly could have taken 10s of thousands in armories.

That is how israel got many of their weapons ... like aks, back in the many wars in the 50s and 60s.

I never heard of any north korean pile of garands, i have been reading about these S. korean garands for 3 years.
