New to us Garand - Can you say "Ping"

We recently picked up a CMP 'service grade' M1 Garand, has to be our new favorite gun to shoot. My son (11 y/o) just loves shooting it, along with dad.... So nice having a piece of history, my dad, and grandfather both carried them.

sorry for the link, but I can't seem to embed the video.

They are a blast to shoot and a cool piece of history…..At the time I can’t imagine what it must have been like for the bad guys that were facing that gun.

my only experience was to pick one up that i "found" while working overseas. but i must say even in the rough shape that it was in, it fired nicely until i heard the trademark ping. and then had to log it with the others

Good on ya Bro!

I too love the M1. I am hoping to pick up the new "Special grade M1" from cmp for $995.00 in the coming month. Nothing like the M1, while it may be "obsolete" it is still one of the best battle rifles ever created IMHO.

Enjoy the hell out of it!

Good on you. No doubt about it to own one is to love one. Glad to see your bringing the young one up right.

Congrats.

I finally picked up my first M1 Garand a little over a year ago. Wanted another one the very next day. lol

Quite a few for sale. Like many it's cash flow and availability that's the issue.
