Let's Discuss Green Laser Sights

Not to put down all those cool red lasers, but I believe green is the way to go. That said, let's discuss what's out there and available to all of us XD-loving people. Here's what I've found out so far, for the XD in green wavelengths, from a little online research last night:

AimShot
Welcome to AimSHOT INC. Offictial Site (http://www.aimshot.com/index.php)
5mW, 532nm,
$150 via Midway

Beamshot
BEAMSHOTŪ Laser Sight,Green Laser Sight,Flashlight,Tactical Light,IR Laser Sight,Laser Aim,Laser Aiming Device,Laser Sighting System (http://www.beamshot.com/)
<5mW, 532nm, class IIIa
$300

LaserMax
LaserMax: Laser Sight, Green Laser Sight, Infrared Laser Sight, IR Laser Sight (http://www.lasermax.com/)
5mW, 532nm
Spot Size: 5/16" @ 7 Yds; 3/4" @ 25 Yds
$399

Viridian Green Laser Sights
Viridian Green Laser Sights - Fits Glock, Springfield XD, Walther, Sig (http://www.viridiangreenlaser.com/)
5mW peak, 532nm, Class IIIa, Continuous Wave
Beam divergence: 1.2 mrad
Spot size: approx. 0.5" diameter at 50 feet
Range: 2 miles
$299

All of these attach to the accessory rail in front of the trigger guard. I think most if not all use the CR123 lithium batteries, or something similar.

Did I miss a company out there that also manufactures green lasers? Are they all separate devices that mount on the accessory rail, or does someone make an internal guide rod version?

I'd appreciate any input you may have on any product, and a review if you actually own one of these (or something different). Thanks.

Need help deciding on a new holster.

Hi guys,

Like most conceal carriers, I'm slowly building up a collection of holsters that just don't cut it. I'm in the process of trying a third one, but can't decide between the following and was hoping to get some input from anyone with first hand experience with any of these:

SuperTuck Deluxe (http://www.crossbreedholsters.com/IWB/tabid/56/CategoryID/1/List/0/Level/1/ProductID/1/Default.aspx?SortField=ProductName,ProductName) - Only drawback that I see, which is not a fault of the holster, is that not all of my pants are really loose, I've gained a few pounds, so I couldn't use it with all of my clothes...
UBG Striker (http://www.ubgholsters.com/iwb.htm) - Looks good, easy on/off, just not sure if it's pulls the gun close to the body like the ST seems to. Also cant is not adjustable.
UBG Regulator (http://www.ubgholsters.com/owb.htm) - I like that it goes on the outside, no tight pants, but again not sure if it will print more because it's on the outside.
Don Hume H721 O.T. (http://www.donhume.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=65_5&products_id=44) - I've read good reviews, drawback being that you have to thread the belt through it. I can't carry at work, so I have to remove it when I get there, which this one will be a pain in the rear.

I have a Serpa CQC BlackHawk (http://www.blackhawk.com/catalog/SERPA-Concealment,1410.htm) paddle holster that just sticks out way too much. My other one is a ROG IWB (http://rogholsters.com/holsters.iwb.html), which digs into my side because it doesn't have a body guard and I hate that my sweat gets on the gun. It also can print a bit because of the belt loops and it slides around a bit. I like the IWB design, seems to be easier to conceal, but I will need to get slightly bigger/looser pants.

Can anyone else provide any other feedback or suggestions? Keep in mind that I have six kids all under the age of 11, so spending money of holsters is not something that I do lightly.

TIA!

So winter is upon us, i am looking for a comfortableshoulder holster. I bought one last year cant remember the brand but it was just nylon type straps and wasnt comfortable at all. I work on cars for a living, not sure if they make a shoulder rig that sits tight enough to wear at work. But if so that would be nice. But if not Im just looking for something that feels good. Im also a southpaw(lefty) so also limits my options. Thanks in advance, John

Holster problem. I have a Don Hume open top pancake holster. It is to tight after I belt it up. I have tried putting the pistol in a plastic bag to loosen the holster and using silicone to make it slick. But when the belt is tight the pistol is very difficult to draw. I have seen other pancake holsters with a built in curve and the slot wings bent. I am sure that helps. Can that be done with the Hume holster?

I am trying to find an alternate to the Don Hume OT Leather Belt Holster and I am wondering if anyone out there uses either one of these holsters below? If so, how well do they carry? Any complaints, praise, etc?

The Tagua Open Top Leather Holster (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180415592298&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT) is nearly identical to the Don Hume minus the body shield.

The Task OT Balistic Nylon Holster (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220418219660&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT) looks pretty good for a nylon holster with a deep setting compared to the leather holsters.

Both of these look like good holsters and are priced lower than the Don Hume but I wanted to see if I could get some feedback from someone before purchasing one.

Thanks.

Review: Tucker Gunleather Silent Thunder Holster & Mag Holder **PICS**

I was in the market for an OWB holster for my XD-M and had been searching without settling on anything. I saw someone post a pic of their Tucker Gunleather Silent Thunder holster they got for their Kimber 1911 and it looked like exactly what I was looking for. I checked out their site and emailed a few questions to Rob. I ended up going with them based on the info I got. I ordered the Silent Thunder Holster with a Double Kydex Mag Pouch. I understood it would take two weeks to get these items so that was no problem. Rob sent update emails when he received my order, when he was getting ready to ship, and also when he shipped the items. But for some reason when I emailed him about other things he wouldn't respond. I don't know what that's about... Maybe his Spam filter was blocking me or something...

I got the items today and I couldn't be happier. The holster is exactly what I wanted and looks to be quality made. The holster is specific to my pistol and fits it like a glove. Here's some pics with notes...

The items came in this bag with a label attached that contained my name and the specifics about my product...

Here's what all came in the bag. There's two allen wrenches for adjusting the holster and the mag pouch for tightness. One for each item...
Image: http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n308/SWThomas/TuckerSilentThunder1.jpg

Here's what they look like from the back. The belt mount is the size I specified when I ordered. I have a thick holster belt and wanted the mount to be a certain size to accomodate this. It fits my belt perfectly. And there's also adjustment screws on the belt mount to adjust cant. The mag pouch just has a simple clip as a belt mount which I also like...

You can see inside the holster that it is specifically formed to fit my XD-M 40. The holster is made of Kydex and then it has a leather lining on the inside attached with adhesive. I really liked the idea of the leather lining for a smoother draw, less noise, and less wear on my pistols finish...

Here's what the bottom looks like and you can also see the adjustment screws...

The leather lining is branded with the Silent Thunder logo on the Bodyshield. The Bodyshield is an option that I chose so the gun wouldn't dig into my side as much. You can also get the holster without it...

Here's my XD-M installed in the holster and my mags in the mag pouch. I really like how it sits and how it feels on my belt...

Now that winter is upon me and I will be wearing bulkier clothes so CC will be easier. I would like recommendations for an IWB for a XD 45 tactical. It's the only pistol I own at the moment and while not ideal for CC it's obviously my only choice. Thanks.

PS ... if you were making a choice between an XD or XDM in .40 which would you choose for CC?

Hello all, Last Saturday I bought a new XD9. I have not went to the range yet to break her in but I plan on doing that Saturday. Monday I decided to order 3 Mec-Gar mags from Cdnn. I got them today and I have to admit I like the way the black mags look instead of the shinny ones. I would have to give cdnn a A+ for fast shipping. Today was kinda like Christmas for me, first my mags came in from cdnn and then when I checked the mail the Pearce grip extensions I won on ebay for my new LCP came too. Be safe all, Dave

Are .40 mags and 9mm mags the same part?

What kind of barrel (and chamber) is required to make it work?

Will the striker still be properly centered on the smaller diameter 9mm rounds primer?

Assuming there are parts to do so, is it wise? Any problems?

Let's say no such products for sub compacts, it can be done in service or tactical right? Same extra questions apply to doing it on those paltforms too.

Right now, I plan on carrying both and need a IWB holster. My question is, will either of these models fit BOTH? Reliably (as in either model stays tight in the holster)? Money is tight, and I'd prefer to buy one holster instead of two?

I've been leaning towards the MTAC since the end is closed, but I'd appreciate input if anyone has first-hand experience with using one holster with a 45c and sc.

Attached light or handheld?

Hello, just looking for some opinions on which is better. I saw a TLR-1 pistol light at the gun store for about $120 and heard good things about them. Are they any better than a handheld flashlight in the other hand?
I was thinking a bad guy may see the light and if they had a gun maybe they would shoot at the light which in turn may hit me. If you had a flashlight in the weak hand you could hold the flashlight above/away from you and still identify the target...
I bought an LED flashlight while I was there because I almost blinded myself with it  but a part of me wants that TLR-1.. Guess the question is if the TLR-1 is worth it(usefull)? I can buy alot of ammo for that kind of cash

Anyone use this for IWB carry? How does it hold up? My supertuck takes a 1.75 width and my current carry belt is 2 inch in width its basically a police duty belt. I think the 2 inch is too thick stiff and think that is I went to a 1.75 inch it would be much better. Would the operator belt be stiff enough to hold up the gun and keep it close to me while holding my pants up?

I took delivery of a new Crimson Trace laser sight yesterday. Apologies for the picture quality:oops:

Image: http://i997.photobucket.com/albums/af91/crafter32034/ct1.jpg
It was simple to install. The entire process took less than 10 minutes

Image: http://i997.photobucket.com/albums/af91/crafter32034/ct2.jpg

Then off to the range for zeroing. The master on/off switch is on the left side of the grip

Image: http://i997.photobucket.com/albums/af91/crafter32034/ct3.jpg

After 75 rds through the XD, the sight has held true to my 15 yard setting.

So I have always been an OWB guy. However, it is getting difficult to effectively carry my new XD9SC on my hip without letting everyone i work with know. I know that the Supertuck is a favorite IWB on this forum but are there any other good ones? Is it possible to carry a XD9SC in an IWB holster in the small of my back (6 o'clock)?

I appreciate it!

Don't know if its the holster or how i wear it but, i cant seem to get a good grip when i draw from IWB. The problem comes i think with the body shield, the part that sticks up higher than the holster in back to keep from contact with your skin. I wear about 3 O'clock fairly tight with the belt and when i draw, especially if trying to do quickly I cant get my hand high enough for a solid grip. If i try to get my thumb wrapped around the grip while fully in the holster i'm only holding the bottom half or so, Its the xd.45c so grip is shorter anyway. the way i usually draw (probably not correct but its what i do:roll:)is almost like my hand is making "a gun",trigger finger pointing to the ground thumb pointing forward over the back of the slide and sliding my thumb around as it comes out of the holster which gives me a high enough grip to fire IF i had to but still 1/2 in mabe less of what would be a good high grip so i end up readjusting and sliding my hand up. Should i cut that part off or is it just something i'm doing wrong, like wearing it in wrong place or to tight. The holster is a D.M. Bullard dual carry and fits the gun great just not getting a positive grip Thanks

Can I use the OEM 40 guide rod & spring with the 9mm barrel? If not, what is a recommended guide rod and spring for basic target practice? Is there one particular brand of conversion barrel recommended? Any advice or comments would be greatly appreciated.

Anyone reccomend a quality dependable place to send a couple xd and xdm slides to, to have night sights bought and installed? You know a reputable dealer where i can send and have back in a week at a reasonable price and have em be perfect. Really no shops around here to get it done and dont wanna risk screwing them up myself with improper tools. Whats a reasonable price and should i send em both in at once and be unarmed or send 1 and send other when it gets back Thanks 4 any input. also no holster problems to worry about with these sights are there??

Recently purchased a XD9 Service and was wondering about the fit of the SuperTuck compared to the 1911. I have a ST for my ProCarry II and had to bump up to a 34 waist for my Levi's in order to button and zip. The XD seems to be thicker than the Kimber and I don't know if the 34" will accommodate the wider XD. What was your experience? I think a 36" waist will be a bit much waistband and I don't want to start looking like those gangstas.

As my 1st & only IWB holster, I'm very pleased with the ST, but want some feedback from XD/ST owners who also carry a 1911. The MTAC looks to have a very similar setup as the ST for about the same price. I welcome opinions on this holster as well.

Hi, boys and girls. I've put a lot of rounds through my XD9, and am now looking into an adjustable rear sight. Is there anything else out there besides the Dawsons? A search here came up pretty empty, and places like Midway don't have much. any suggestions?

Just got my CrossBreed

I've never CCed before but decided to once I got my XD9-sc. (Yes, I have my CWP) Picked up the crossbreed at the recommendation of a bunch of posters here and I have to say my first impressions are great. I was afraid it would be very uncomfortable but it's not at all.

Anyways.. some concerns I have

I tried holstering at several locations between 2:00 and 4:30 and you could still see the back of the slide printing on my (loose) t-shirt. I haven't tried adjusting the cant at all so hopefully that will help, suggestions are welcome.

One thing I've noticed for anyone considering CCW is that if you're like me and buy pants that are essentially fitted (so you don't have to wear a belt to keep them up all day) you may need to go up a size. Also, my current belt is "OK" but I can definitely see the need for a real gun belt. I may go with CrossBreed for that also since the service was so great.. but I'm going to shop around a little also.

Cheers,
G33k
