I took a beginning handgun course in Dallas using a Glock 19. While I liked the Glock, I knew there was a better one out there. I considered the S&W M&P, but settled on the XD9 (4" barrel).

As things turned out, I didn't get to try it out for 4 weeks after I bought it. Last Saturday (11/07/09) I finally took it to a range and put 150 rounds through it. Holy Cow! It's miles and miles better than the Glock! You'll literally have to pry my cold dead fingers away from my XD before you can get me to shoot another Glock.

Next step is to sit through 10+ hours of torture on a weekend going through the CHL class. I hope it's somewhat entertaining, 'cause I have a short attention span and 10+ hours of classroom is not exactly ... uh .. .. hummm .... what was I talking about?

Anyway, I'll be lurking on the boards trying to get more info on my XD.

I've been following threads on here for most of this year. I'm about ready to buy a HS-9. I was happy to wait until early next year, but my girlfriend has gone and put a deposit on a G17A and I can't let her get a pistol before me.

I'm waiting on the next shipment of HS-9's into Australia, so she just might beat me. 'he who hesitates..'

The HS will be my ticket into IPSC after using club guns for nearly a year. I'm looking forward to shooting with a sense of familiarity rather than getting re accustomed to a different pistol each week.

It was tough picking between the ruger sr9, and the XD9.
what turned me off about the sr9 was the rough feeling slide, and trigger.
The XD's was much smoother, peening and some feedback, anyway i feel safer and more prepared with my new XD9, now to find a lazer.

Well, I have had a good bit of training and lots of range time somewhere in the 2500-3000rds area. However it's all basically what I learned in M9 qualification applied to my XD and 1911.

I'm so glad this forum is here! I Went to the shop intent on getting my second 1911. Sold the first(Kimber) When the economy crashed. The Springfield 1911A1 that has been there for over a year was gone. So I decided to look at My first polymer pistol. I have shot glocks. They're fast and accurate, for Me anyway. But they do NOT feel good. Long Story short. I decided, since I didn't have enough or a black rifle, to get a Sub compact. So the G26 was there. , But the grip Sucks like I said. SO, I Saw the XDSC9. To Me, ( My Opinion on it) They only way I can explain it, It "Feels" Like a Polymer 1911!!!!!!! If that makes sense. It's Like a Glock, Sig, and 1911 all in one awesome package.8) I Got the Crimson trace for 200ish. (I Never had a Lazer before either) So I'm Having a blast with this pistol.

I Just have a Few questions for the XD experts.

Do these retain Value as well as Glock?

Will it take being submerged like( Supposedly) glocks can. And take rain and Mud/dirt like You see on Youtube vids where they muddy it up and it still feeds?

(Probably dumb question)will the 9mm 20 round Mags (made By XD) fit in the XDSC, for a WROL situation? I don't care if it sticks out. I'm Talking if I need a LOT of rounds and the XDSC is all I have.

I Still Don't know about Lazers yet. I know they have a place. But Gun fighters have been Shooting for 500 years without them. I've trained in CQC shooting and never used one. The CT lazer is the only one I'd get because is doesn't interfere with the Blackhawk holster.

One thing I was disappointed about, But it was MY FAULT for not researching enough. I wanted a XDSC For CCW. But really, It's just a shorter barrel. If I REALLY want DEEP Concealment I need a Single stack of some kind. I can tuck My Barretta92 in my waistband with no holster at all and it's ok. The grip is the same width.

Unless I'm Missing something, or there's a Holster that would be better. I was just disappointed in that aspect because the gun shop guy said he wears the G26 on an ankle holster everyday. They are the EXACT same size, side by side. The XDSC seems WAY To big for that. AFTER Getting home with it.
So any suggestions? A 5.11 "holster shirt" or whatever it's called? Or Maybe one of their vests? I'm sick of uncle mikes felt IWB holsters, they move too much. and Leather makes it thicker and imprints more. Well I guess it's not too bad. I live in the mountains. It's fricken cold. Maybe By summer I'll get a Sig p238? Or Kahar, Unless I can learn how to Hide this better. See, I'm Used to carrying in a maxpedition pack. Or similar. I'm thinking I should have got the full sized "tactical" XD45. They weren't too much different in price. But other then the concealment issues, It's the perfect pistol. And this forum is GREAT.

I was lucky enough to get a hold of a couple boxes from walmart this weekend so I should have enough ammo to last me a bit.

I've been lurking on this forum for a bit and have come to realize that there's definitely some good information to learn on here.

I should note that I have not had any formal training, although I was taught by my friend who showed me different tips on shooting, keeping safety in mind at all times. I guess I need to take a gun class anyway but in reality, how much more will I learn in that class? I'm a former GLOCK owner ( I still think they are great weapons), and HAD to swap my G21 .45 for an XD9, as my work did not permit me to carry a .45. The guy I "swapped with" likes Glock too, and I've read such good things about the XD-9. I had no time to really shoot with the XD-9, just a few rounds at the time of the exchange.

I went to qualify with the XD-9, a very police like qualification, and shot a perfect score...very nice group!

So I'm now a certified XD man! I really like it and look forward to hanging on the forum and learning what is going on.

OH...I say I'm on the move, because my wife is currently in Army training. She's on her way to OCS, then onto ??? So I'm on the move!
