Beltman 1.25 Question

I have a couple of gun belts, a 1.75, and 2 1.5 inch belts that work great with jeans. They are a little to wide for slacks and dress pants and have actually ripped a belt loop on one occasion.

I was looking at the 1.25 inch belts from beltman. They get good reviews here. Should I go with Bullhide or Horsehide? Should I get stiffener added?

I will be carrying a XD9SC mostly IWB but possibly OWB as well.

1st step to owning a suppressor??

Im a Missouri resident, and what to purchase a suppressor in the future. I just received my Form for a Curio and Relic which from what I understand is a FFL that qualifies. Am I on the right track and if so, then what is the next process? How long does it normally take for all of this to go through?

Thanks Guys:D

XD subcompact.... questions/opinions wanted

I have an XDm .40. which I absolutely love. Can't find anything I don't like about the gun.... except I wish it were more concealable to carry. May be if I had less fat, it would be easier?? I do have CCW permit, and already do open carry with this gun but would like something smaller to carry concealed.

I have my sights on the XD subcompact .40, wanting to keep the same caliber gun if possible. The 9mm is also an option, but I think the .40 would do just fine. Any suggestions there?

Here's my questions.... How is the XD subcompact to carry? Yes it's smaller than the XDm, but to you who carry it, how does it conceal? Holster... any recommendations?

My wife loves my XDm, and would like to have it around the house with her. I've taken her shooting quite a bit lately, and she fell in love with it. As she tells me... "Not bad shooting for an old broad, huh?" Glad she still has a good sense of humor.

Thanks for any suggestions.

I posted a question about holsters that were NOT the Supertuck or CompTac. I got a recommendation for the DM Bullard Dual Carry. It looks like an interesting option. I have found pics of it used as IWB, does anyone have a pic of it as OWB? Also, how is it whe holstering the weapon? Easy? Or is it much more difficult that the Supertuck with they Kydex holster?

Ccw xd9sc

I have had a XD9SC for over a year now. I have a crossbreed super tuck, MTac, and another no name IWB holster I bought at a gun show. For the past year, the 9SC has been more and more of a burden to carry. I am only carrying it occasionaly now due to the extremely low comfort level. 2 days a week I am in a suit and the other days I am either in jeans if not at the office or business casual when I am at the office.

So my question is, if you could have a CCW holster that WAS NOT a Supertuck or a MTAC, what would it be?

I am 5'11 185. I should also let you know that I have in fact broken in both holsters, and even went as far as to cut my Supertuck into a Combat grip. Still no luck. Its just too bulky for IWB. Buying all my pants 1-2 sizes bigger is not really an option. I also have a gun belt so that cannot be the problem either.

Not trying to knock the Supertuck, its an EXTREMELY well made holster that TONS of people enjoy, it just does not happen to be the right fit for me.

Any other options? Thanks in advance.

XD/XDM Rear sights - new member

I'm happy to have found XDtalk. It is a better source of the info I need than magazines and google searches.

I've seen a few posts regarding rear sight adjustment. Here is my experience: I bought an XDM .40 this summer, and the rear sight was off-center by nearly 1/16th inch - enough, in my limited experience, to pull you off. I had a local gunsmith punch it over, and my shooting improved.

A few weeks ago I bought an XDSC .40, and its rear sight is also off, though less than my XDM was. I am shooting fairly well with it, but will probably have it centered eventually. It makes me wonder how closely SA checks their guns before shipping them out. Have other XD owners found their sights significantly off?

This is a small issue, and otherwise I am thrilled with my XD's. I shoot regulary, and just bought a Supertuck holster.

Thanks to all informative posters! I've learned a lot.

I went to the LGS to buy some ammo and gave into temptation and bought a SC 9mm.

I traded a shotgun S/S and some cash. I just received my CC permit today and already had a super tuck holster for my new purchase.

I am looking fwd. to shooting it tomorrow on my land near my home. I don't have a range in my little town. I did fire off a few rounds this pm at a target, lol.

My SC sure feels nice in my ST, I had planned to carry my XDm 9mm, but the SC sure feels some lighter, so I will be carriyng it most of the time.

So I have had my XD 9 Service for about a year now. I don't shoot it as often as I would but I have about 700 rounds or so down the pipe.

Today I noticed that the finish on the slide is starting to wear out where it contacts the holster. I don't mind the wear because I actually like seeing wear on my guns but it just seems to be wearing off very fast.

Do all XDs come with that Melonite finish on the slide? Or do I have to treat the areas that are worn out differently to keep corrosion off?

I just field stripped and cleaned my XD-9. Upon reassembly the slide jammed half way into the open position. I can't move the slide back or forth. This is frustrating since I've been stripping and cleaning often and I have never had a problem with it. I don't want to start popping out pins yet, but I don't see anyway around it. Anyone have any suggestions?

CT Grips with High Noon Hidden Ally Holster

I just sold a bunch of crap out of my garage and I can get the CT's without touching the bank account. The only thing is my Hidden Ally is the only IWB holster I've come to find comfortable, concealable, and cheap. It has just a tad of slack on both sides for the gun but I'm wondering if it will be enough for the CT's to fit comfortable and not move around. I know this is a pretty odd combo since not a whole lot of people use the Hidden Ally, along with the CT's but if anyone know I would love to hear your opinion on how it holds up. I'm thinking of sending High Noon an email and see if they have any input but wanted to see if anyone had this set up already. Thanks for any reccomendatoions!
Edit- main reason I ask is will it knock it off zero in/out of the holdster?

Today i was doing a routine oiling of my xd-9, and became distracted for a moment. so in my infinite wisdom, i put the slide back on without having the recoil spring or barrel in place. now i cant the top part of my pistol off, and want to avoid a gunsmith if possible. any suggestions would be awesome!

p.s. i know it was dumb, but that doesnt mean i am dumb, so please refrain from telling so. i am a very easily distracted person

I am looking into buying a few pistols in the future for a possible SHTF scenario. I want to go with a single platform to keep things consolidated; either XD or Glock.

I need some answers straightened out before I purchase.

Are there any common problems with XDs?

Is it true that you can't buy parts for it? I'm worried about this because I much prefer to fix my own stuff than send it in, especially if it is a cheap part that could easily be fixed by me instead of having to send my gun in. That is one thing that is swaying me towards glock. Say I put 50,000+ rounds though the XD, is it likely that I will have to send it back for one reason or another to get worked on?

Are magazines interchangeable between models? What about gun parts between the full size, compacts, etc?

Are the glock polymer/steel magazines superior to the XD magazines?

Thank you for your time

Does anyone have any experience with the malabar front holsters?

I know this is probably just gonna turn into a "i like this round better than the other", but what are you guys general opinions on this?

Down the road it WILL be used for concealed carry.

I like that the 9mm obviously holds more rounds, and the ammo is cheaper to shoot.

Whereas the .40 hits a little harder, and you can buy a .357sig barrel and have 2 guns in one.

money isn't falling from the tree's otherwise i'd buy both :D

Hey everybody, first post here.

I'll be picking up my first XD on Tuesday, but I've got a question after witnessing a malfunction at the range.

Guy next to me has a compact XD 9, and is shooting commercial reloads. He has an FTF, so he drops the magazine, waits a little while, and then ejects the round. Good impression on the primer, so the round is a dud. He puts the magazine back in, closes the slide, then isn't sure if he loaded a round or not so he tries to cycle the slide but it's jammed. Drops the magazine, and tries to cycle the slide, does everything he can safely do (by now he had determined there was a live round in the gun) to get the gun to work.

After his buddy and the RSO looked at the gun they asked me to try to eject the round. I couldn't and suggested that he just fire the round if he was sure the round before wasn't a squib. I figured the worst that could happen was the extractor rip the rim off of the case, but then the slide would be free and the case could be removed. After a little while he decided to fire the round, the gun functioned properly. We checked the case and chamber for a problem. The case looked normal, and the chamber was relatively clean.

After that he shoot a couple hundred more rounds without a problem, but it got me wondering what kind of problems I might run in to with my new XD. I realize it was probably an out of spec cartridge and it just got stuck.

I guess I'm just looking for reassurance that I've made a good purchase since I plan on using the XD as my carry gun.

For some reason here lately I will pull out my XD-9 and XD-9SC and handle it , look at it and just look at it . It is a nice looking polymer pistol , but I dont tend to do this with my Glock , or 1911 , just my XD and sometimes my Cougar .

I have a simple question for those of you who have shot or own both the .45 and the 9mm subcompact. I recently purchased a .45, and my fiancee has shot it some. We have agreed that she needs to get a gun in the near future to carry concealed. She likes my gun but the slide is too difficult for her to pull back without straining. My question to everyone is the 9mm subcompact's slide easier to pull back than the .45? I know my friends 9mm Sig is 10x easier than mine, but I wanted to know about the xd's 9mm. Any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks again everyone!

Ok, time to make fun of einheit....

I have always used hip holsters of one form or another. I prefer to cross draw, so I buy RH holsters and carry on my left side. I wrecked my bike 10/31 and falling on the pistol sucked. A testament to the sturdiness of the XD too. Hitting the road at 40mph and other than a nasty bruise and lots of cussing, the XD came out fine. It just spit out the mag. Kinda cool since I carry loaded! Anyway, I have decided to carry it high while riding just incase someone cuts me off again and I have to drop the bike.

Now, I am going to get a Galco Jackass/Miami style shoulder rig. A RH rig puts the weapon on my left side, correct?? Has anyone ever used such a set up?? And can anyone tell me about OpticsPlanet.com?? Good to deal with??

Thanks for any info........

I just got my CWP and started carrying my XD Subcompact 40. When I get home and clear the gun the bullet wont eject normal. It will eject fine under normal fire ,its like the bullet when in the shell is to long and catches kinda just gets stuck as it comes out. Tried with several kinds of ammo and all had this problem. Is this normal? Or should I call Springfield?

So i think i might have an extractor problem, after about every 200 rounds or so the gun will repeatedly about once a magazine (different mags) fail to pull the spent casing out of the chamber and try to load the next round causing a stoppage that i thought was a double feed but have been corrected and apparently that's not what a double feed is. Anyway when i clean it it goes away till another approx 200 rounds. So if you gotta send it in should i fire it til it happens again then send in dirty so it has a chance of happening for them and they dont just send back saying its fine or send in clean and the more experienced than i at SA can just look at it and tell what the problem is

I own and love shooting an XDsc9...everything about the gun is great except for the magazine release. Instead of the mag release button sticking out the same amount on both sides of the grip I'd say it's 45% one side and 55% the other. Unfortunately the 45% side is where my strong side thumb is. My hands are already on the small side so I have to tilt the gun a bit to hit the mag release.

If the mag release was centered 50/50 or better yet the 55% side where my strong hand thumb goes I could hit the mag release without shifting the gun in my hand.

Is there any way to adjust this or do I need to get a new mag release (I shoot USPSA production with the gun so I don't really wanna get an extended mag release)

I have the definitive answer to the question of "Where not to oil?" I e-mailed the local SA sales rep. Following is the answer, copied and pasted directly from the response. Now we know. Happy cleaning.

The striker does not have to be absolutely clean and dry but it should not be soaked in oil and left that way. If you are cleaning your XD and get a little bit of oil on the striker just wipe it off as best you can and it should be fine. Some oil will end up on it and that is fine. Some people see that it moves and think that it should then be soaked in oil. This oil eventually combines with carbon and gets gummy. This gummy oil/carbon mixture will eventually slow the striker’s movement enough that it will prevent the striker from impacting the primer hard enough to reliably fire.

When you are looking at the underside of your slide back towards the rear you will see a squarish block that hangs down. This block is part of the striker and if you push it towards the rear you will see that it is spring loaded. Forward of the block the striker is cylindrical and moves in the striker channel. Behind the block you will see the spring. You want to keep excessive oil out of the striker channel and off the cylindrical part of the striker. If you look at your owners manual exploded view is on page 31.

Changed factory holsters?

Well i recently bought me a brand new XD .45 compact and in my excitement over the gun, hadn't even paid attention to the factory holster and mag holder.

well i got them out today and was looking at them and they looked different to me. well sure enough i got online and on youtube and did a quick search on google and all pictures/videos of people showing off the holsters they are different.

all the ones i saw online had actual clips where you would slide it down over the belt. mine have an actual loop on the holster/holder that you have to feed the belt through. i looked it over and the gun holster even says XDM on it.

do the .45 compacts and XDm's come with the same holster/holder? i'm assuming they are different than all the other models. or did springfield just recently change the holster design?

Bad way to lock slide??

I know this is not the preferred method but since i am fairly new to pistols (this year) im looking for input. Let me start by saying i have really bad arthritis so strength and bending the wrists are problems ( not trying to whine on a gun forum) i dont have any problems with a 9mm but the springs on the .45 is stiff so this is how i do it. I drop the mag turn the gun sideways and pointing to the left in a safe direction and grab the gun with my left hand with my fingers depressing the grip safety like so...
Image: http://img101.photolava.com/2009/11/12/1112091205-2b9jzaq5.jpg then i reach over the top with my right hand towards the front of the slide, making sure not to put my hands over the barrel and pull til i lock it with my left thumb.
Image: http://img101.photolava.com/2009/11/12/1112091207-5tcgmp68.jpg this seems to be the best way for me to feel like i have total control over how the gun and slide are pointing. to chamber a round i can hold with right hand and grip back of slide with left hand and pull but to try and work the slide lock that way is hard. I cannot do the rack the slide with my left on top of slide thumb pointing at chest and pull though at least with the .45 as it puts sideways pressure on wrists (bad).I can grab it by the front of the slide with my strong hand and move it a little, ie. chamber checks but have a hard time pushing it all the way back that way. so am i breaking any safety rules or any other arthritic people out there that can tell me a better way.. thanks for reading

Greetings folks,
Subject: XD-9 service.
I'm looking for ideas to add to or modify the serrations on the back of the slide to give a better bit when racking the slide. It's not a problem for me but my wife just can't do it. We went to the gun shop and tried all the good stuff and the H&K P-30 was unbelievable easy but the bottom line here is that I am not about to give up my XD's. I called Springfield to see about a lighter spring but they don't offer any and I really didn't want to change anyway. I asked them about adding some more serrations and sharpening the edges and they basically said no.
Any ideas? Like maybe a machinist that does gun stuff.
Thanks

Springfield XD-9mm SC 13rd mag + 16rd mag(price $549)

Image: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3537/3406749557_9c435df00d.jpg

and the Springfield EMP(price $1150)
Image: http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1439/1443613371_95ec09516b.jpg
I love my XD tactical but wanted something with a smaller frame and maybe single stack. The Sig just doesnt feel good in my hand score +1
The XD9sc feels great and I know they shoot good +2:) But I really like the EMP 9mm feels good in the hand and fit and finish is great and a single stack never shot one yet.But the price is more than I really want to spend score +1.7 but that can be overcome.

I know the XD should be my choice out of the three I just need some input on the other two.

Thanks Tracker

If I take my time and place the pad of my finger on the trigger and keep my left hand gripping tight I solve my shooting to the left. But that is only if I take my time. My problem is that I have long fingers. When I draw for tactical shooting my finger tends to wrap in the crease of the knuckle. Is there any type of grip that would force my hand back just enough that my finger would naturally rest on the pad? I hope that made sense.

Dumb Newb question about Mags (XD9SC)

Ok, So we all know that the XD9SC comes with the 13 and 16 round mags.(Outside of CA and some other eastern states) I have seen Pictures with extended mag in XDSCs that could be holding 20 rounds or more. someone even modded 30 round Barretta mags catch, so it takes. At the Shop the Guy said The 20 round mag wouldn't fit in My XDSC. But looking at it, everything is in the same spot(Mag catch). Did he Mean it would just be sticking out of the bottom? "Well, No S***". I thought. I didn't have time to ask anything else, as the place was closing and I was in a rush. I Just thought, assumed, read, that XDs will take mags in the caliber they are in, like Glock 26 will take the Glock 17 Mag. Or the 30 round Make they make also. With No Mods.

So, What XD 9mm Mag Holds 20 rounds ( or More) and will fit, with no mods, in MY XD9SC?

WAIT, Just thought of something. Could it have been an XD-M mag I was Looking at? Still though, it was the same exact size in width and the catch was in the same place.( Or seemed to be)

There are Nice pics on here of DX9SC with the silver of the mag sticking out beyond the extension, meaning they are holding atleast 20 rounds(Maybe more) with a Nice Polished ported barrel(Or Threaded) with Crimson trace . Thats what I want to do( Or have the option of doing, unless I want to carry it bare) To Mine. I and I'm Going to polish the barrel myself. so far( I've done lots of knife work and know the process)Polishng Barrel, Already got cromson trace and Supertuck. Just wondering about the Super high cap Mags I'm seeing pics of all over?
I Must master My XD

Thanks for any advice in advance. And thanks for this AWESOME Board.

Hello,

I've heard through the grapevine that S.A. isn't manufacturing anymore 10 rd. Mags for the XD series.

Anyone else heard similar? I'm assuming (hoping) this is just temporary.

Looking for a XD-40sc, here in California. (seems we have different SKU #'s for our "safe" gun list.

I would like a shiny bbl on my XD9SC. Am I correct that no one sells a nice, shiny one and that the most practical way to get this is to polish it? And if yes, is there any downside to polishing the bbl?

Below is a recreated sample of my first 25 rounds at 25 feet in my brand new XD9. Being my first pistol and that i haven't shot a gun in 3 years I'm not sure exactly why my aim is off so much. Any advice on sighting in better? Also how does the differences in the grain of the ammo stack up, I'm shooting 115gr.

Any Suggestions is greatly appreciated!

Since i live in a state that will basically be below freezing from now til April. Is there any precautions/ extra maintenance that needs to be followed if your weapon will be used/exposed to these temperatures. thanks for any info
And what if you (gasp) drop it in the snow or have some joker ambush you with snow balls, will a field strip cleaning suffice or some thing more drastic be called for.
