Grip safety issue using pachmayr tactical grip sleeve

I recently put a pachmayr tactical grip sleeve on my XDm 9mm, thinking it would improve my grip during IDPA matches. At least once or twice, during a stage, I found my grip was apparently loose enough to not fully engage the grip safety, as I couldnt pull the trigger to get a round off until I realized what was going on, and griped tighter. I dont recall specifically, but I dont think my grip was that bad, just maybe too loose. I am wondering if the grip sleeve contributed to this, as it adds a layer of thickness to the back of the grip, which would take that much away from effectively depressing the grip safety. Anyone else run into this using the grip sleeve on a match gun?

I may try the next few matches without the sleeve and see what happens.

I decided to shoot a Sig 228 I purchased recently for fun. I generally don't care for DA SA guns but I like Sigs.
Image: http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g299/355sigfan/Semi%20auto%20pistols/sig228.jpg

Stage 1. We had to hold a pizza box and fire the first round non sighted.
_Image: http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g299/355sigfan/IDPA%2011-15-09/th_Patstage1.jpg (http://s59.photobucket.com/albums/g299/355sigfan/IDPA%2011-15-09/?action=view&current=Patstage1.flv)_

Stage 2
We had to run back hit a popper that opened a door with a bad guy loud our pistol and then engage more targets to the right around the barricade.
Image: http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g299/355sigfan/IDPA%2011-15-09/th_Patstage2.jpg (http://s59.photobucket.com/albums/g299/355sigfan/IDPA%2011-15-09/?action=view&current=Patstage2.flv)

Stage 3

We had to hold a bag with our gun hand which we dropped upon the buzzer this activated a charging target that we had to shoot while backing up. Then two other target arrays.

Image: http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g299/355sigfan/IDPA%2011-15-09/th_Patstage3.jpg (http://s59.photobucket.com/albums/g299/355sigfan/IDPA%2011-15-09/?action=view&current=Patstage3.flv)

Stage 4

This stages was messed up. We had a dice in the shooting box which we shook up and on the buzzer we had to open the box and look at the number on the dice and not shoot the target that matched the dice because it was a hostage.

Image: http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g299/355sigfan/IDPA%2011-15-09/th_Patstage4.jpg (http://s59.photobucket.com/albums/g299/355sigfan/IDPA%2011-15-09/?action=view&current=Patstage4.flv)

Stage 5
Open the door for a surprise and engage more targets.

Stage 6 long range stage 20 yards seated on three targets the shoot one target on the move then a final array.

New Three gun rifle set up

I watched Colds (team Noveske) video the other day and noticed they were all shooting guns similar to my Larue Stealth in size. They had PRS stocks and 18 to 20 inch barrels. I thought I would try to change some things around on my Larue.

This is before. Its set up as a DMR rifle and its heavy.
Image: http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g299/355sigfan/AR%20style%20rifles/LarueSideview.jpg

I pulled the scope off and put my Swarovski on it from my Noveske. I also took off the bi pod and mono pod. This lightened the gun up a lot. I then added the hand stop.

Image: http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g299/355sigfan/AR%20style%20rifles/LarueThreegunsetup.jpg
Image: http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g299/355sigfan/AR%20style%20rifles/Larueleftside.jpg

I have not shot it like this yet. But doing dry fire drills it did not seem too heavy. I think I will try this at my next three gun match. It offers better accuracy and more velocity than my 14.5 inch Noveske.
Image: http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g299/355sigfan/AR%20style%20rifles/N4description.jpg
I am ordering a Aimpoint T1 for the Noveske and I think I will use it as my patrol rifle instead of my Colt. It feels very light. I will post a pic with the new optic when it comes in. Sometimes you don't know what you have.

Outdoor lighting at range... pay quarters as you go?

I know this is a weird question, but XDtalk has a WIDE range of talents and professions.

What I am looking for is a machine that will take coins in exchange for powering the lights on a specific portion of a range.

The Sportsmen's club I am a member of is open year round, and we close at legal sunset, but in the winter that comes very early.

I have seen payboxes at park district tennis courts that allow players to put in quarters in exchange for lighting up a court for a time period. Does anyone know what these boxes are called and who I should talk to in order to get a quote?

Thanks!

My club held what they called a Tactical Shoot, a fairly informal, very mini IDPA-like event. It was the first competitive shooting event I ever was involved in and I had a ball. The biggest thing I learned was that I was really slow - but honestly thought I was going fast. It couldn't believe the time when it was called out. Seemed I lost most of the time on the very first target - I guess nerves and uncertainty took over - and never really recovered.

Despite that, I am hooked and cant wait to do it again.

Hey guys…

With the help of quite a few shooter type folk we put together a dry fire practice program for USPSA. This would also work just fine for IDPA
shooters. It is designed to be simple, and to not require a bunch of stuff.

Check it out HERE (http://benstoeger.myonlineplace.org/joomla/index.php?option=com_content&view=category&id=46&Itemid=64)

From our website:

"Texas Tactical holds 3 Gun combat matches at
various times throughout the year. The objective
of these matches is to allow people to become
more familiar with and to improve and test their
skills in a simulated CQC (close quarters combat)
environment with their 3 main defensive tools:
Rifle, Pistol and Shotgun. It also provides a
venue where shooters can show how well rounded
their "combat" skills are in one match.

Our 3 Gun Matches generally consist of 2 Handgun
stages, 2 Rifle stages and 2 Shotgun stages. We
will be using IDPA targets for the Handgun and
Rifle stages and steel, balloons and other
reactive targets for the Shotgun stages. IDPA
rules and scoring will be utilized! Use of
available cover will be required. No "competition
only" equipment may be used. All equipment must
be of a practical nature. If you have any
questions please Email us at:

texastactical@yahoo.com.

"Texas Tactical holds 3 Gun combat matches at
various times throughout the year. The objective
of these matches is to allow people to become
more familiar with and to improve and test their
skills in a simulated CQC (close quarters combat)

I have a Colt 1911A1 that I am thinking about shooting in single stack division. What is the main differences between SS and limited 10 (besides the mag capacity)? The club that holds our weekly shoots, has alot of people that shoot single stack guns in limited 10, why? I currently shoot limited with my XDM, but am looking to expand!

I don't know or care about divisions just want some practical experience and to have a good time. Seen a couple matches and want to get in on it.

So I have two options and won't be able to buy much more for a while. For yall following my troubles lately you know I'm mildly indecisive when I only have the money for 1 more gun right now. Both of these sellers are respected and I trust the word of both.

RIA 1911 fairly customized, haven't pulled the trigger yet (don't know the trigger weight). FS: Rock Island Armory 1911 Customized .45 - MGO Community Forum (http://www.migunowners.org/forum/showthread.php?t=64620) I have about 200 rounds right now ready to go. Can probably swing another 3 mags so I'll have four and thats the limit of my budget. As soon as possible I would put night sights on it, so a further dip in the ammo budget.

Sig 226, night sights 4 mags Sig226 in 9mm price drop.... - MGO Community Forum (http://www.migunowners.org/forum/showthread.php?t=60047) can also with the money pick up an extra 600 rounds to practice with, have 200 or so as well (also get some defense rounds 130 but that won't help for learning IPSC) rounds are cheaper.

Both guns are very close together (owners live about 10 miles apart) Should I consider, going to see one, and going to see the other and then either buy it, or go back and buy the other?
