I got my PRP spring kit yesterday and installed it. Install was easy to do, and in dry fire, the trigger felt great.

Shot 100 rounds today, and I had 6 light primer strikes. Not the light strikes that are a little high on the primer from not being fully in battery. Genuine, not quite indented enough, yet dead center light strikes.

These were reloads, and I used CCI primers, which I know are a little harder than some, but I shouldn't HAVE to shoot a soft primer. I was thinking maybe it's bad primers, but all of them shot when I ran them back through.

I'm not comfortable with the failure rate on this to use it as my carry gun with the PRP kit. I think tomorrow I will call them and ask if it would work better to maybe switch the striker spring back to stock. I'm sure it would not affect the primer strike to leave the lighter disconnector, trigger and block safety springs in. I don't know for sure if it's best to keep the sear spring paired with the striker spring.

I've heard so many great things about the prp kit, and it felt so good. I wish it could have worked for me. I don't know what the chances are that I just got a bad kit.

Do yall think I could humainly kill a deer if he is within 15-20 yards? I will be practicing to be able to hit at that range. Does the 45acp have enough power to humainly kill a deer? I will be shooting a good hollow point bullet. thanks ><> del

Howdy y'all. I would like to summarize few things about myself and my rig.

I bought SOCOM II last January. I've always wanted this rifle. It came with Vltor stock and everything else on it. Including EOTech 512 on top. I've always used an AR. With regular hunting scope on it. I sold mine last December for investment reason. Bash me or not. I was satisfied with my AR. Didn't find it to be have to have it anymore. Cause I have been eyeing SOCOM II for a while and this guy had it for sale so it worked out for me.

I realized that EOTech had a blurry reticle and dot until I looked with my left eye. I'm right hand shooter. I saw that it wasn't the EOTech but my right eye that can't see the clarity of eotech's red dot. So I sold it and mounted my Vorted Strikefire. Red dot on it.

I already knew I have an issue with my right eye. I've had no problems shooting mag scope with my right eye out to 300 yards. This was a 3x powered scope. Anyways...

It was alright cause it is good for me up to 75 yards. I wanted a magnification scope. So I sold my red dot to get LER scope. Last week got in the mail.

Man, no matter what, I move it down or up near the ejection port. I still can't even see clear on the crosshair. It seems like I need to put my eye so close for me to finally have a better field of view otherwise its all jumbled all over the place.

Its kinda disappointing for me because I love to shoot this thing and want to shoot out more than 100 yards but the scope sucks. I don't want to limit to red dot and with no room for mag scope mount to the red dot.

That's the only downside to SOCOM II is quality scope.

Wats y'all expert say about this? What's my better option. I don't want for it to be a safe queen or having to go buy bolt action and put my reliable scope that I've killed tons of hogs and deer with and waste my money on SOCOM?

And no, I ain't selling it! :D.

I appreciate your advice, inputs and feedback. I am so new with M1A platform and have searched thousand threads on M1A/M14 forum but they all have red dot with no magnification on em. Many bashed LER scope as well.

This is my group at 75-85 yards I shot on our ranch. When I zero in for the first time.

This is my rig's set up with red dot. But I sold it already.

I do have original stock that came with it. I am thinking about putting it back on and take off the Vltor stock. I haven't decided yet. Its friggin heavy! Lol or I may just remove some of the accessories. I have already removed the bottom rail as well that had a bi-pod on it. Weight seems to have debased substantially but not much.

And sorry for the long read!
The anti-self defense zealots will strip the birth Rights of your Children strait out of the gate.

I started piecing this build together in October of 2012, and just completed my final assembly last week. After months of research into building a compact legal AR15 with future goals of being registered as a SBR, I opted to build up a DDLES Glock pattern AR15. I ended up getting the receiver pretty quick since I went with a 6065 billet version. The DDLES Glock modified bolt did not arrive until March of 2013.

Fortunately I bought most of the build before the November/December train wreck. So I was able to source high quality components inexpensively. I installed a Geisselle SD3G trigger, a PWS 6065 pistol receiver extension, heavybuffer's 11.5 ounce buffer with a Wolff XP Spring. Battle Arms Development CASS ST ambidextrous selector. Magpul MOE-K pistol grip. Magpul MS3 sling. Small Colt parts were used for the lower. I sourced thirteen 32 round Glock 9mm magazines.

For the upper, I went with a VLTOR MUR with the shell deflector only. I was lucky enough to source a 10.5" BCM chrome lined 9mm barrel. Once I received it, I sent it to ADCO and had them cut it down to 7.75" and had it profiled down to .625" for additional weight savings. A Vortex 9mm flash suppressor was installed. Troy Industries BUIS, tritium dioptic format were installed. A Noveske NSR 7" rail was added. I modified the rail to allow my weapon light to sit further to the rear. The concern was the light would stick out past the muzzle device. I then used a Mossie Tactics mount that attaches to the front Troy BUIS. This mount places a universal mounting rail ahead of the front sight and lowers the height by approximately 3/4 of an inch. A Surefire X300 Ultra was then mounted to the Mossie Tactics rail. Noveske NSR rail covers were added to the NSR.

A Raptor ambidextrous charging handle was installed in the upper. An Aimpoint T1 2moa dot optic was installed with a LaRue absolute co-witness mount.

Once all the components were in hand, I stripped all the parts down and sent the parts out to WMD Guns to be refinished. The plan was to internally coat the entire rifle in Nickel Boron and apply a top coat of Burnt Bronze Cerakote to the exterior of the gun. 2.5 months later, the lower, upper, barrel nut, receiver extension, charging handle and bolt were coated inside and out in Nickel Boron. The exterior of the lower, upper and receiver extension was then painted in Burnt Bronze Cerakote. The Noveske NSR rail, Mossie Tactics Mount, upper side plate, receiver extension plate and magazine button were painted in Burnt Bronze Cerakote. The visible portion of the Raptor charging handle was painted graphite black Cerakote.

I sent additional parts to another coater for painting as well. I sent the Surefire X300 Ultra weapon light, the Aimpoint T1 and the bases of the Troy Industries BUIS's in Burnt Bronze Cerakote.

The barrel and flash suppressor were salt bath nitride treated for additional wear resistance.

It took about five or six hours to assemble the weapon. I took my time, used a torque wrench anywhere I could get specs. Locktite was used in various strengths in different areas. Aeroshell grease was used for the barrel nut, flash hider and receiver extension.

I then color filled the markings on the receiver with black lacquer. This came out great and has a nice subdued look.

Enough BS, here are some pictures!

And determined that even though the cheap little NCStar scope I bought solely for the purpose of doing load development for my AR-15 is a horrible, horrible excuse for a piece of glass.

To save you all the agony of the details, I'll make this a short story. I really wasn't feeling line going to the range today, but went anyways. There's half the problem. Another thing to consider is that I'm not much of a rifleman. And finally, the big excuse: That wretched scope! Here's the link to it, and thankfully I only spent $25 shipped:

        Amazon.com: NcStar 3-9X40 Black Scope/Ruby Lens/Ring (SFB3940R): Sports & Outdoors

Amazon.com: NcStar 3-9X40 Black Scope/Ruby Lens/Ring (SFB3940R): Sports & Outdoors

Yes, it is a poor craftsman who blames his tools, but seriously... this thing is horribad.

So, I'll see if I can't return it. If I can't, then I'll do something creative with it. Here's a pic of my zero target, shot at 50yds:

The rifle and the ammo is capable of some good stuff. The shooter and the scope? Not so much. :D I don't have a pic of my 100yd target, because I ran out of time and the RO refused to call a ceasefire so I could retrieve it. Believe me - it was baaaad.

So, now I have to decide on a scope. I'm already pretty set on a Nikon M-223 3-14x42 with the BDC 600 reticle. Just have to save up to get it. Or maybe I'll just get one ASAP as a "congrats on surviving a year at your job" present?

Thoughts?

P.S. CarlWinslo... my running out to the range was a last second thing, and believe me - you don't want to be around me when I get into a bad mood. And yeah, at the end, I was definitely in a bad mood.

Police gunfire killed Hofstra University student, official says - CNN.com...

Police gunfire killed Hofstra University student, official says - CNN.com

Bad guy breaks in takes girl, says he's going to shoot her. Turns gun on cop. Cop fires 8 rounds 7 hit perp one hits girl in the head.

Yeah trust the cops in liberal cities where they view guns as bad and thus don't practice unless told to.

I'd much rather trust my game guns in a gunfight to protect my family. Guns made for me, fitted to my hand. Trigger tuned for me, bullet selection chosen for accuracy. Then a one size fits all chosen off price and where it was made with a 12 lb LEO trigger that's fired 2 times a year for qual.

I'm not saying the cops a bad guy, hell he went into a room solo vs a guy with a gun, he's IMO probably in the top 20% of cops in this country. But the odds are against him compared to me and mine.

I"m just saying I'll take any IPSC/IDPA shooter over a randomly chosen cop any day of the week. The cops I'd take over standard IPSC/IDPA shooters are almost universally IPSC/IDPA shooters themselves.

Figured I would do a quick first impression and see what you guys thought.

Just received my new Hidden Hybrid Holsters S1 a couple days ago, so I threw on some clothes that I thought I might be wearing sometimes with it and snapped some shots.

This one I took doing a "striding" pose. Hard to tell that close.

Reaching

I was pulling my shirt about as tight as I could trying to get a print.

I have the cant adjusted as extreme as possible, and it is probably around 430. The back of the slide is just barely past my outline from the front, if at all.

I should mention I'm very slim... 5'10" 140ish pounds. And I typically wear "well fitting" clothes. In the pictures, I had a very thin button up, and some volcom shorts. I can only imagine how well this will conceal under colder weather clothing conditions. Even with that outfit, I think I would feel quite confident that it would take substantial bending at the waist to produce a print. Kneeling seems work well.

Quality is top notch to say the least. Adjustable retention in two spots, soft suede backing, sturdy belt clips, height and cant adjustable, and holes for OWB option. I think it could be considered a "tuckable" holster with the way the clips are mounted. It is extremely comfortable, and spreads the weight across the hip well. After the leather breaks in, I'm sure it will only increase in comfort.

Unfortunately, I am confined to house arrest with it concealed until my permit comes in. Hopefully in about a month and a half.

If you have any attire or pose requests, let me know and I'll take some pictures.

Want to say Howdy to y'all. I am Noob! Not noob to the forum itself but to this site.

I am a member on TexasBowHunter.com Same User name.Except for 7 on the end of the handle name. I am Deaf Pardon my english for it is not my strongest virtue as American Sign Language. :-P

I meant to sign up on this site when I bought my M1A SOCOM II back in January but never got around to it now that I bought XDs-45 for early Father's Day present yesterday. Decided to sign up to become a member on here today! :D

I hope to learn and acquire knowledge on this brand, from yall who have more experience with Springfield Armory brand.

I've been a Taurus man and carry Taurus 24/7 DS in .45 With its full size for carry has wore thin on me for the third straight years. I decided to get a smaller frame for CCW.

I never meant for the buy to happen yesterday. Somehow, I was in right place at the right time. The store had it, momma said I could have it. Wasn't gonna challenge that. Filled out paperwork as fast i could, before she changed her mind. lol Walked out with it. I've always wanted XD for a long time but went with Taurus due to price wise but this time, it didnt matter!

Hope to get to know yall more as I will visit here more often.

I do have few questions to ask about my rifle and my XDs but thats for other thread! :p

I picked up my first start to an AR today. I had ordered a New Frontier Lower a few weeks back, and after some driving today was able to finally lay my hands on it.

I need the "Experts" to help me find, or piece together an affordable & reliable, AR Upper. I am fine with piecing it together, as I am on a limited budget, and time isn't an issue, but the sooner the better.

I realize buying a complete upper is probably the best bet, but it is also the hardest to come up with that lump sum of cash.. I look forward to this build, and will check back often for input and to give updates.

It seems to me, to be a well built polymer lower, but what do I know?

Here is a Pic of what I have so far..

Helicopters and cop cars everywhere looking for the man described as possibly dangerous. Police were going door to door telling people to stay inside, lock their doors and load their guns.

Hey, I have put 400 rounds through my Glock 19 3rd Gen since getting it and I haven't had any failures of any kinds. I am not sure about something though and wanted to get some opinions from others with the G19 3rd Gen.

In this video you can see plenty of footage of the extraction and ejection of the spent brass. To me, it seems a bit weak. My basis for comparison are my XDM 4.5, the XDM 3.8 Compact, and my Beretta 92fs. But those 9mm's seem to really chuck the brass compared to this Glock 19.

It hasn't caused any problems or malfunctions, other than getting beaned in the head a few times, but I wasn't sure if this was standard or if it looked weak.

We're thinking about moving to Missouri down near Branson, the scenery is beautiful and it's great for fishing, table rock is wonderful. I was curious how gun friendly Missouri is though?
Do the laws seem to be getting better or worse there with everything going on?

We were originally thinking of moving to Texas but Missouri has a lot more pros for us, that is if it's a firearm friendly enviornment.....

Any folk around there feel free to weigh in..
Thanks!

Hi everyone,

Unfortunately I was not selected for a direct commission into the JAG Corps. This was my 6th time trying for the AF, fourth for Army, and third for Navy. I am now considering my options about going in as a non-JAG officer. I am currently a practicing attorney but I know I will regret not having served in some capacity for the rest of my life. I will be 32 in July so I know my time to do something is running short. I have spoken to my wife about it and she supports my decision as she knows my desire to serve and the fact the serving will help take care of my ridiculous amount of student loan debt from college/law school. I'm not sure what MOS I would qualify for as I have a B.S., J.D., and I am finishing up my LL.M. (Masters of law). I would love to hear some opinions about my chances of getting an age waiver, if I am making a wise choice, and what MOS should I look into. I appreciate any advice!

Hello all. I am a newbie to the handgun ownership world. My name is Joe, I'm 21 years old and live in the overly oppressive tyrannical state of New York (Gross right?). I handed in my application for my pistol permit the day after my 21st birthday in November and it just arrived in the mail a week ago. I purchased an XDS in .45 as my first one. Haven't gotten a chance to shoot it just yet but everything I've read regarding the gun has been positive. So anyway, I use this username on several other forums so if you recognize me, feel free to PM me. A little about me, I grew up shooting, hunting and fishing. Today I'm an avid bowhunter and just getting into handguns. I hope to relocate sometime within the next 6 months to a year down to Texas. My family just purchased some property in the Hill Country and after being down there for a week last month, that just about ruined me. I know where I belong. I look forward to being a contributing member here and learning from other XD owners!

I am looking to a conceal holster for my XDM 40. I shot left handed but have long arms that make it awkward to have the holster on the left side. Trying to locate a holster that will work on the rightside either IWB or OSB. Figure that a holster is like a weapon the feel is most important but would like ideas on where to start.

Thank you for the help.

Got to talk with him for awhile before we opened the doors to the public and what an amazing guy! I've loved him ever since I saw Full Metal Jacket when I was a young boy. Not to mention the countless other films (Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Saving Silverman, Se7en, Mail Call etc..)
Couldn't have had a better day at work :)

I don't know if this is the right place to ask, but if is not, please let me know. Well, my question is in regard to be in possession of a firearm near federal property/office. I already know that it is illegal for a civilian, CCW or not, to carry a firearm into a federal facility, what I asking is, if the federal government is leasing office space in a building that is also occupied by private business owners, are we allow to enter the other business in the same building or use the parking lot with out getting in trouble? I have read the 18 USC already but it does not address this particular situation. Thanks

Just a quick Question? If I wanted to clean the striker channel of my xds would I have to take out not only the striker assembly but the extractor and loaded chamber indicator.

I am new so bare with me here. without the extractor and firing pin block out would you not be able get a q-tip through the chanel and blow compressed air through? because the block is in the way?

I feel confident enough to take striker out but am worrying about going further.

Thanks ,
