Well I sent out my S&W M&P 45C and my Older (My first gun ever purchased) S&W 4013 to Smith and Wesson. The 45C had a minor issue with the field striping as the little lever used to (Like on a Springfield) would not stay down and would flick to the 45 degree angle position. This made for a hard field striping of the firearm. Also that dang SQUEAKING sound when the slide is pulled LOL!

The 4013 had a worse issue. It had a failure to feed ammo at times. It would not happen on every round fired but out of a 8 Round mag it may fail to feed 2 rounds. Sometimes it would be ok. But other times it would crank a round in sideways and dent the round up pretty good. This worried me on both carrying this weapon in that it may fail me if ever (god forbid) needed to protect me. but also smashing a round sideways I was in fear of that round be hit in a way that may fire the round out of there and possible hurting myself or someone else at the range.

I would always go on the end of the range on the far right side in case this gun after repeated attempts by other gunsmiths trying to fix this problem would happen to misfire like that.

Well I heard from S&W today and they said most likely in this case they will probably want to replace the weapon. :( My first! my all stainless with the great all metal frame and it's 1911 Look baby! I have a great Hogue grip on it that I absolutely LOVE! Other than field striping this gun I love everything about it. I have to wait till tomorrow to hear from them. The guy who called me said that he was only the Service Rep and the tech working on the gun has not totally reported his findings yet.

but he said that if so they would most likely replace it with a M&P 40 or something like that. Ugggg! My baby. I will surely miss my first born :( :-( if they can not do anything with it. When i sent it I never thought they would tell me this. I guess better to have a reliable gun. But still I will forever be sad about my baby!

I have done some research and will be traveling with a single handgun in a soft-sided piece of luggage. I think I will go with the Gunvault Nanovault. I like the idea of the built-in lock. I wanted to check with members here to see if they had any other suggestions or have had any experience traveling with the Gunvault product. Also - does anyone have a specific recommendation as to a lock to lock the soft-sided luggage with?

I needed a tool in order to replace the riveted extractor in my older Remington bolt rifle. It is called an extractor rivet anvil.

The tool does only one job and costs $85.00 plus shipping from Brownell's or Midway. Not paying that.

So I made my own. A couple pieces of mild steel, some cutting and grinding, some Tig welding and 30 minutes of time.

It is a tool that is held by your bench vise and allows you to place the bolt face against the hook end so you can peen the rivet down to hold the extractor in the bolt face recess.

First post, so be gentle ;)
.
The Loaded Chamber Indicator on my XDm (9mm) seems to be a bit wonky. It's ever-so-slightly raised in the opposite direction that when it's indicating a loaded chamber. Just enough that I can see a sliver of the tiny spring beneath.
.
Also, I'm not sure if this is related, but the Striker Retainer Pin keeps working itself out from flush just a tad after I put some rounds through the gun.
My guess is the indicator is a little worn on the underside allowing for some slop up top... (
.
I'm relatively new to XDms, but not new to firearms in general, so any help/tips are appreciated.
