I start by saying this is my NON BIAS quick review and this holster is NOT for everyone !!!!!

Got the INCOG IWB Holster System with the optional Mag Caddy( Magazine Carrier) for my XDM 3.8 compact 9mm about 3 months ago with excellent results. I`m 5`8'' 160lbs regular guy not too skinny not fat  . The 1st week was a total nightmare , I spend hours tweaking , adjusting ,wearing ,re-adjusting the CANT , trying all possibles combinations to make this holster fit properly, finally I removed the Magazine carrier and thats when everything came together . With the Mag Caddy removed I can use this holster virtually in every position (appendix , 1 o'clock , 3 o'clock ,5 o'clock etc..) Some times I even forget I`m packing :D . With the MAG Caddy installed is basically appendix carry only (not for long hours driving or been sitting down) , If you are constantly walking (moving) I really don't see a problem wearing it.

Started wearing the Mag Caddy 3 weeks ago (once I got used to appendix carry) for quick trips that last less than 2 hours and so far has been comfortable.
Like all guns/holsters combos out there you need to dress correctly to keep printing to minimum . So far I can get away with just a t-shirt on appendix (see picture) ,1 o'clock and 3 o'clock positions .

Pros :

1.This holster is a really well made ,excellent quality !
2.Can be used in several positions depending on body type (no mag caddy).
3.outside black fuzz keeps the holster in position even if I make fast movements .
4.clips angles really keep the holster close to my body.
5. Mag Caddy will let you carry extra ammo , all in one place

Cons:

1. Expensive
2. Mag Caddy works only in Appendix position .
3. Not for everyone specially if you have a few extra pounds (big Boy).

All in all from 1-10 I'll give this holster a 9.5 but remember you need to spend some time tweaking this holster to fit you.

I appologize in advance to all, English is my second language .

I shoot at a outdoor range, a lot of weeds, gravel and grass in handgun shooting area. I was talking to a friend about making a catcher for the brass. Its hard to find all spent shells on the ground. Does anyone know of anything like this that I can buy, or any ideals on how to make one. We were thinking some kind of free standing net/bag. It would be nice to shoot a 100 and come home with a 100 empty.

It's got a ton of pockets inside and out for mags and eye protection and other tools. Hard tray in the bottom. Stealth look.

Not sure it's lockable, though, which could be a drawback.

I have the 50 caliber military ammunition cans. I was looking for a divider that would go in the can so you could divide it in half or thirds. The cans are 11 inches long X 5 and 3/4 wide X 7 inches deep all inside dimensions.. It would be nice if you could make them into 3 compartments or two so if you have the same size and weight bullet but 1/2 are made with WST and the other half are made with bullseye they can be in the same can instead of two cans that are less than a third full. Is there are dividers made for them already? Does any one know of an easy way to make them so the are strong enough to hold back 45ACP bullets.
I have a lot of these cans and it would be nice to condense them down buy powders or bullet weight in the same military can.
If anyone has information or an idea of how to make them please let me know. I have accumulated 9 of them and condensing the insides would be great.
Thanks for any input or help as always

My first impression is that the mount is solid. Took a second to figure out how to mount it but after reading instructions slapped it right on. The mount places the light up and out of the way but in the correct position for the modern thumbs over grip on a forend. So far i am very impressed with this mount.

Hey guys, so a Couple of questions I have for you today. Well After Months of pondering and being torn between the different calibers by SA, I found an Awesome deal on gun-broker for a XDM .45 5.25 Competition with 6 Mags for $700.00. I am waiting for the gun to get to my FFL here in IL. Anyway, the guy stated he has about 600 rounds that went through it, but that he has cleaned and kept it really tidy. So that isn't a big concern since I know the excellent Quality of SA.
Here is My Dilemma(s)-
I am torn on what shells to get for it, I know its all based on preferance and each gun has a personality of its own. What I will be using the xdm for is 1st and most importantly, Home defense, 2nd - A kick-ass Side Arm when going Moose hunting up in Canada. I know I want to stay around the 230gr rounds but not sure if I should go with the Hornady Critical Defense, or the Federal LE Tactical HST 230gr. They are about $0.50 difference in price for a box of 50 (Midway USA) so it really wont break the bank. I know for the range, I will probably just get some Blazer in 230gr and call it a day.
My other questions:
I was considering to get a holster and a tactical light/laser for it. What are your thoughts? ALSO... I really like the current grip of the gun, but scavenging through the forums here, I have heard of Gel grips and Sand grips and all this stuff. I am a pretty big guy (about 285lbs, 6'1") hence why I decided with the bigger caliber gun, Any Recommendations on what and where to buy? All your input is Greatly Appreciated and I can honestly say that I am really happy to be part of such a great Community and with a Brand that Surpasses the Rest!
Thanks Guys,
Victor S.

Received holster and trigger guard ordered from Cooks Holsters. Took only 9 days from ordering online to arriving in mail. Don't understand how their turnaround time is so much faster than anyone else. Very comfortable and disappears in waistband. IMO, way more comfortable than any of the hybrid or leather holsters I currently have. Smooth on bare skin. I am going to be using the trigger guard for concealing in vehicle and backpack. Just ordered another holster for Kahr cw9.

Only concern i have is the belt loop flexes at bend. I worry about it snapping when placing onto belt. I'll see how it goes.

Hopefully this will help alot of new guys including myself who are looking for holster info. I would suspect that for most users who are not LEO/security would prefer level I or level II. Seems for civilian use and EDC level III would be a little overkill but thats my POV. Also if you would include your reason, pros and cons for your level preference. We will save brands for other threads, God knows there are alot of them;).

I've been experimenting with leatherwork since I got my CCW. Need to be able to carry, after all. It turns out that it's fairly easy to make a holster. I made a second one for my PPQ recently, and thought I'd share my process, and see what input you all think, and see if anyone has tried wax hardening a leather holster before.

I started with a rough paper pattern, then cut out the back part first. Next step was to cut a rectangular sheet for the front, since I didn't know how much I would need post molding. I set my cant first, then drill holes with my drill press and a 3/32 bit, and then sewed it up (used some contact cement to stick the pieces together first). Then I soak the leather with water to get it moldable, and stick the gun up against the seam (tape a pencil against the top to create a channel for the sights). Then I use a sharpie to mold the gun and the details. This takes a while, and required rewetting periodically with a sponge. Next I cut the front portion to the shape that I want. Then, I drill more holes and sew up the other side. Once that's done, I do a bit more molding until I get the fit that I want. Then I let it dry overnight. I clean up my edges with my belt grinder (or a razor and a regular old sanding block if you're doing it by hand). Next step is to apply the dye to get a suitable finish, recognizing that with my final finish, it's going to be darker. I use 8-9 oz leather, which is much stiffer and sturdier than a lot of the stuff that generally gets used.

Once I've finalized the details and dye job, etc, I wax harden it. A lot of people don't like leather because it gets soft, and can dip into your trigger guard, and can get ruined if it gets wet. I've developed a technique for dealing with both problems. I'd read about a process that used to be used for leather armor, called courbouilling, which essentially is wax hardening the leather. I use briwax paste wax and a heat gun. I spread the paste wax on, and then use the heat gun on low until the molten wax is fully absorbed by the leather and it's dry. Then I repeat the process with about 5-7 applications. Finally, I buff the holster with the gun inserted using a piece of denim to get a decent finish. The end result is a leather holster that's stiff (enough to turn a blade, in fact), and water resistant. Water will bead up and run off. It will get a little softer with use and in really hot weather, of course, and adds some weight to boot. But, it might be a reasonably good solution for some of the usual problems with leather. Here's how my second holster turned out. I used high heat to crinkle the surface of the leather up a bit to get a look similar to the texturing on the grip of my PPQ, and am reasonably happy with how it turned out (which is the important thing, I think). Next step, mag pouches.

i ordered a Lansky Deluxe knife sharpening kit for my pocket and boot knives. also ordered a Rack'Em Bed buddy holster so i don't have to keep the xd(m) on the night stand. finally, i ordered a nice leather cc belt from bullhidebelts.com. i've been using a Spec-Ops better BDU belt and while it's okay at what it does, i deep down have been wanting a leather belt for a long time.

can't wait to get them in the mail in the next week or so. will revert with updates once i'm able to try everything out.

They are obviously very nice and will last for many years, but I also find people speaking very highly of the Aker B21 belt, which is reinforced with polymer. With both of them being reliable products, is the Beltman belt really worth $40 more? If you think so, please give your reasons why.

Hey everyone,

I recently purchased my first handgun and the wife and I have been going to the range to shoot it. Before we go anymore and head to CCW training as well, I really need to purchase some quality ear protection. The first time at the range with only the earplugs almost ruined any chance of getting my wife to go back.

What is your best reco for some quality ear protection <$100 (I have to buy 2 of them). I would prefer some sort of headset vs earplugs. I also noticed the battery operated ones. Are these worth the extra change?

Just thought I'd share another holster I added my "famous" convertible retention strap to. The last time I did this was a super tuck for my XD/XDM a few years back and now I upgraded my little Galco OWB leather CM9 holster with one. I add velcro pads to the front and back so I can use my retention strap (If I so choose to) or remove it. The super tuck still sports the original velcro and I never had to repair even with daily use. I'm hopping the same out of this little job. I used the same adhesive and velcro so..... Here are some pics.

It works out great and breaks free easy and doesn't inhibit the draw at all. Best of all I can just undo them if I want and ride with the "top down" if you will. :D

I decided that I am going to throw down the scratch for a Beltman belt. I have decided to go with the bull hide cordovan in 1.5". As for the size I am somewhat perplexed as to what size I should order. Keep in mind that this will be my first gun belt as well as my first concealed weapon carry. i measured from buckle to hole that fits fairly snug but not uncomfortable which was 43.5" but rounded to 44". Also measured my waist and it is 42.5". Since these measurements are without a holster which will be a CBST should I just order say a 45" belt to be on the safe side? I am also on the fence whether to get it with a stiffener? I want a stiffener because I may at some point change to heavier gun or carry method so I would hate to have to buy another stiffer belt. My biggest concern with a Beltman belt with a stiffener is could it be too stiff and uncomfortable?

this is a review of a horse hide holster that i bought my wife for her xd9 subcompact. I bought one for my glock at the same time. crossbreed was backed up 6 weeks plus. I turned to ebay and found one for the xd9 subcompact looked up the seller contacted him via his facebook page. I talked with him for a while he answered all my questions. this was on friday. he built the holsters on saturday morning shipped them out. i got them monday. They are both nice all the edges are nice the clips are heavy duty and all the hardware and kydex deem of good sturdy quality. the holster on the xd fits very snugly but there no clearance issues even from the loaded chamber indicator. I have not been paid or am not affiliated with RB Holsters in any way i am just happy to have gotten a good product at an extremely reasonable price. Gonna use the money i saved to drive around and look for ammo.

We're waiting for our CCW licenses to arrive (my wife and I). In the meantime I've been looking at holsters. I'm torn between IWB and OWB. The OWB provides better gripping of the weapon on the draw (based on what I've read), but the IWB is more concealable. I'm currently considering the SHTF and Crossbreed Super Tuck for IWB and the Blade Tech Eclipse for OWB. Also magazine holders that are better, worse, or...? For those of you that have experience with any of the above mentioned products, or have suggestions for others, please let me know your thoughts, including likes, dislikes, etc. Any and all input is appreciated and helpful. The weapon I'll be carrying is the XDsc .40.

I thank you in advance for your information and help.

A while back I took and passed my CCW permit class and did my finger printing, and I am expecting my permit to show up in the next few weeks. So that means I need to myself a good holster soon.:p I am going to try to carry my XDM 9mm 4.5 in an IWB holster until I can get an XDS or XDM 45 3.8, being 5'10" and 180 I am not sure how it will work out.

I was planning to get a Crossbreed holster, since they are reviewed highly and a kydex holster is a must for me. It seems that there is at least a 2 month waiting period to get one, and as nice as they may be I simply don't feel like waiting that long for a holster and not being able to carry. So I am in the market for holsters are similar in quality and features to the Crossbreed holsters.

I have seen the Old Faithful Holsters, and they seem to be pretty nice looking. How do they compare? Are there better options out there?

But now I own three of them. The paddle holster that came with my 4.5 in 45 ACP is very uncomfortable when I am driving. I've always loved my mini-belt slide holsters for compact 1911's. Is there a small belt slide holster for the XDM is wide enough? Any ideas?

Hello,

Hello,

I have been in and out of guns for years. I recently got back in after buying a xd 40. I really love this gun! I purchased a holster for it the same day at the range/gun shop and it fits like a glove. (did the same for my PX4 storm as well) At the same time I was taking a CCDW class.

To shorten this story the instructor warned me about my holster. He said while it is indeed great, that the plastic on it will screw up my finish when I open carry more. He advised something about adding archery felt to the inside of it. He got busy after that and I didn’t have time to talk to him much for the remainder of the day. He even pulled out a few that had been damaged from carrying in an unlined holster.

So, I have a good holster I love, very comfortable and great for open carry. However, I do not want to screw up the finish on my gun. Do you guys have any suggestions about lining one of these plastic holsters yourself? I don’t want it to mess with the fitment of the gun, it snaps right in, but I want my gun protected as well. Any suggestions would be appreciated!
Thanks!

I recently saw a couple of forum postings where folks have found they've been able to carry their various XDm pistols with different calibers in the same holster. Someone even mentioned the paddle holster that comes w/ the various XDm's are the same model number.

I also read a few threads where others mention that the .45ACP XDm's have slides that are anywhere from 1mm - 2mm wider than either the 9mm & 40S&W. Both Blade Tech and Comp-Tac offer XDm holsters in either 9mm/40 or .45ACP, indicating there is some sort of difference.

I recently bought the 5.25" 9mm Competition model to complement my .45ACP 5.25" Competition. I noticed each gun fits the paddle hoster that came w/ either gun, but the .45 model fits a little more snug in the 9mm holster.

I'd looking to pick up either a Blade Tech or Comp-Tac for IDPA use and would like to buy only one holster. Do I look at the 9/40 and just loosen the retention screw to accomodate the 45, or go the other way and pick up a holster for the 45 and tighten it down to handle the 9mm?

I'm curious as to what others have done. Thanks.

I have been looking for a level 2 retention duty holster for my 5.25 comp in .45ACP. As any owner of this pistol knows, it is very difficult if not impossible to find a holster for this gun. It will fit in a Blackhawk serpa for an XD but the barrel sticks down too far below and could cause issues. A couple kydex companies will make the holster but no one makes a level 2 retention. (Snap, lock or loop) G-code will make the holster (Their proprietary holster systems are fantastic) and for retention, the SOC holster is exactly what I want but they will not produce it if the demand is not high enough. If anyone is looking for a fantastic holster, check them out especially for the 5.25 XDm. I have no affiliation with the company as I just desperately need a holster system for my XDm.

If anyone has any suggestions, please help me out.

so father's day is coming up and my wife asked what i want. i've really been wanting a few good flashlights, one for EDC and then one for my pistol, AR, and shotgun. i figure i can knock out one of those right now. i have looked at them a little here and there, i would like to stay under $100, and lower if possible, but i don't want something that's going to break on me in a few months. i realized that keeping the price down might limit me to only the EDC option, which i'm fine with.

if i go the EDC route i'd really like something that has a case to attache to my belt. my pockets already spoken for with other items and i already have a leatherman and my phone on the belt so adding a light is no big deal.

not sure if it matters but the pistol is a XD sub compact so i have the rail on the front. AR 15 is run of the mill with A2 hand guards, but i've been eyeballing the MOE guards, can a light go on those or do i need a picatiny rail? shotty is a vanilla mossberg 500 so i'm sure i'll need something special to attach the light there as well.

these are all guns that would get used for self defense if i'm out or at home so i need something solid that will work but i'm not trying to be a mall ninja. i've also thought that if i go the EDC route i can sacrifice the light on the pistol for now. i understand lumens but i'm not sure if there's an 'optimal' number or distance that the light should reach out too. i'm sure it's a personal preference but i would imagine there are some average numbers that are a good rule to follow.

any help would be appreciated! thanks!

I purchased it to wear with my XDm when using as a back-up to my rifle for hog hunting, but I think this will fully replace my holster for wear around the house, too. I can't be more pleased.
