Ok, I have a question that gets asked a lot and no one ever answers it with things i'm looking for. Im converting an ak sbr, spending a lot of money on it and I want it to be SWEET. My dilemma is 7.62 or 5.45, I LOVE the 7.62 round but im worried I wont like it as much in a small configuration. Im thinking of 5.45 purely based on the recoil and getting a second shot on target quickly, but love the sheer power of the 7.62. I hate the 5.56 round purely because its like shooting something with a bb gun, nothing explodes, no penetration, this worries me if i buy a 5.45 because they are similar (even though the 5.45 is proven to have great penetration, it can shoot through a god damn tree). I don't care about corrosive ammo or that one is 5 cents cheaper a round.
Thanks
Aaron

*Notice #1 - If you're gonna be anti-WASR....GTFO. Aint nobody got time for dat*
**Notice #2 - If you're all about original wood furniture on AKs....GTFO**
***Notice #3 - If you're gonna be like "I bet your WASR has canted sights, mag wobble, and the bolt sticks....GTFO and kill yourself. Mine's smooth like buttah***

That having been said, I purchased my WASR 10/63 two weeks after Sandy Hook because I knew sh*t was about to get stupid....and boy was I right. Here was the original rifle:

I actually too like the wood furniture on it. I think it looks sharp...and I debated keeping it on and putting a couple cherry coats on it. But after doing a little research on the intrawebz and seeing all the non-wood furniture options, I couldn't resist making my AK my new project rifle

After four months of back-order purgatory, here she is now:

and here's what I put on her:

MAGPUL CTR Stock, MIL-SPEC, Flat Dark Earth

VLTOR 5-Position AK Stock Adapter with Storage Compartment

Midwest Industries HD Flash Button QD Sling Swivel, Black

Hogue Pistol Grip, Flat Dark Earth

DTS L.I.N.C.H (Left-handed Integrated Non-reciprocating Charging Handle) Charging Handle

Burris Fastfire III, 3MOA

Midwest Industries Universal Handguard with Burris Fastfire II Topcover (BFFIII fits for lower 1/3rd co-witness)

MAGPUL AFG1, Flat Dark Earth

LaRue Index Clips, Flat Dark Earth

LaRue Hand Stop, Flat Dark Earth

Primary Weapons Systems FSC-47 Muzzle Brake/Flash Suppressor

Here is the LINCH. As a right-handed shooter, the LINCH eliminates the need for the "AK roll" or taking my right hand off the grip/trigger when I need to charge the bolt. The LINCH can only be charged when it is flipped.

Pull the LINCH back and you can see the organic charging handle moves back with it:

But notice the LINCH doesn't move if you decide to use the organic charging handle:

For more information on the LINCH, check out the Military Arms Channel review of it:

http://youtu.be/otwCn7gEsDA

Here is the FSC-47 and in my opinion the best LOOKING AK flash suppressor/muzzle brake on the market. And it definitely helps control muzzle rise

So there she is. I named her "Charlize Theron" because every time I look at it, I wanna do nasty things to it  I know this isn't going to be everyone's cup-o-tea...but I love it and am pretty proud of how it turned out

So I've been wanting an AK for a really long time! After a lot of research and talking with some gents that were more informed then myself, I decided to get an Arsenal. I finally had the funds for one but then the Sandy Hook incident happened and it was insanely hard to find one at a reasonable price. Kvar had been out of stock for months. So after work on Friday, I was looking through the forums and checked Kvar again and they were still out. I was all bummed out as my birthday is in a week. I had an IDPA match coming up and needed some new ear buds, so I popped into my LGS. I found a nice pair and as usual wanted to check out what was in. Saw some sweet 1911s, handled a Mosin which I almost bought until I came to the rifle wall. Alas, the clouds parted and there it was...My AK! THE EXACT ONE I WANTED FROM KVAR. So after kicking my budget minded sub conscious in the ass, that bad boy came home with me. Shot 200rds with zero problems;)

I'm now thinking of maybe a red dot or holographic sight and was wondering what you guys would recommend.

Whats up yall, I have an AK and I want to change out the heavy wooden stock.

I have a PAP M70 Yugo and I believe my default stock is of Warsaw Length 9.5 inch. I'm 5'11" with somewhat gorilla arms and this length feels ok but I feel its a little long. Also, my face right cheek is bruised the day after shooting (incorrect stance maybe?).

What stock length do you guys recommend and why? I know this will end up being a preference thing but just wanted to see yalls' feedback -specially the AK guys.

Anyone know the weight of the default AK wood stock?

The Magpul PMAG 30 AK MOE is a 30 round, durable, lightweight, high reliability polymer magazine for 7.62x39 Kalashnikov pattern firearms.

PMAG® MAGAZINES - PMAG® 30 AK MOE®, 7.62x39 Magazine

This will be the first installment of the Magpul AK magazine line. The AK MOE will be an all-polymer design, utilizing the same advanced materials and manufacturing processes as the rest of the PMAG line to achieve surprising durability. It features a removable floorplate, constant curve geometry, and high-reliability/low-friction follower for the performance you expect from a PMAG.

Due to the interface of rifle and magazine in the Kalashnikov platforms, and the leverage that critical points must withstand, we knew we couldn’t leave well-enough alone with the AK MOE before we even started designing. Also currently in development, and arriving on the heels of the AK MOE, is the next release in the PMAG AK lineup, which will be a 7.62x39 magazine with a little more “Bulgarian” in it, featuring solid steel reinforcements at lockup points.

I picked up this pair of Arsenal Milled Receiver Bulgarian Models last week. These things have been really hard to come by in the last several years. Only recently has Arsenal gotten enough of the Bulgarian hot forged milled receivers in to start production. They don't come cheap, but the quality of these guns has to be seen to be appreciated. The fit and finish is like no other AK-47 model I've come across. The barrels are hammer forged and Chrome lined, as is the chamber. The front sights are perfectly straight, and the furniture fits beautifully.

I'm having a really bad feeling about what Hussein might do with Executive Orders regarding the importation of these beauties. He could easily make them an endangered species with the stroke of a pen. I sure hope I'm wrong, but I don't trust him. Anyway, I would rather bite the bullet and get a couple while they're still avaliable. If there is another high body count shooting, (and there will be), This might be the last opportunity to get guns like these.

Cannot decide on AK74

I want to buy an AK74 and have been waiting patiently for pricing to drop again. One halfof me cannot force myself to spend on something that was hundreds of dollars less months ago. I want something nice but $800 on a WASR or Saiga is not very attactive to me. On the other half wants a Saiga that I can convert, likes the performance of the 5.45 round and loves that cost of the ammo currently. However, if I am going to spend $800+, then I might be better served getting an AR from PSA. The downside to that is where do I find affordable ammo? The .223/5.56 is almost $.80/round some places.

Throw in the fact that Obama looks like he is intending to ban foreign weapons, ammo and magazines: I might be screwed if i take the plunge to get the AK74 and am unable to shoot it months from now.

Bottom line: What your you do if you wanted to get a rifle and stay at or under $1000? An over priced AK74 and possibly a can or two of 5.45? Or an AR15 and maybe 200 rounds of .223? I am tired of waiting on crap to get better and am going to buy in the next 7 days.

I've been toying with the idea of selling my Polytech AK-S47. It has been well loved... used, but loved. I am asking $1,300 for it.

Willing to trade for part of cost, but I need mostly cash.

Trades considered would be, a Sub-Compact Handgun or Hunting Rifle.

Very willing to take feedback on my price.

Thanks for considering, I am very sad to have to let it go.
