Summary: Stereotypical wisecracker Booker DeWitt sets off to find a chick with nice boobs and free her from the clutches of racist santa claus who lives in the sky and sees the future. What follows is a tale of exhilarating action, suspense, and drama chronicling the three way struggle between racist santa claus, brickhead, and an uppity young aunt jemima over the fate of nice boobs.

Booker DeWitt: Not much to say about him, not as generic as any of the other bioshock or system shock heroes and more sympthetic which I guess sortof disproves the tabularasa philosophy of game protagonists but still sortof generic. Transforms when wet like a gremlin

Racist Santa Claus: Pour water on booker and this is what you get. Over the top evil and nonthreatening at the same time santa claus dukes it out with that psychiatrist chick from BSII for the title of tamest FPS villians. Shodan eats him for lunch. He has some compelling elements but you have to dig around or wait for them.

Santa's flying city: For a rightwing racist city most sure seem happy. I'm not sure if they were trying to say the Tea Party is bad or they are magical wizards who can treat you to a floating disneyland.

Aunt Jemima: Seems like they were so busy trying to show how evil racist Santa Claus and his city was at the last minute they decided to make Aunt Jemima evil too to prevent them from looking biased. Problem is BSI is like 90% Evil Santa Claus 5% goody two shoes Jemima and 5% suddenly evil Jemima. Intriguingly earlier previews of the game indicated a more nuanced look at both sides of the war, but only a similified version of this pathos seems to have made it in. As it stands, Jemima and her buddies aren't too interesting.

Nice boobs: I'll give them credit that nice boobs doesn't know kung fu like 99% of the other female game characters out there. Still they try to shovein too much of the I'm not just a stereotypical damsel stereotypical bs. Has magical powers, which are justified by a reason that doesn't make sense when you think about it.

Weapons: Rather than carry Fort Knox enforces a more realistic two gun limit. Can be annoying to those used to being a simulated truck on legs but Forces you to use a variety of weapons. Could use better descriptions so you'd know what the strengths are.

Gear: A new wrinkle or more accurately a readded feature that somehow made it into consoles. Problem is most gear is useless. Unlike weapons you can carry an entire wardrobe.

Vigors: Plasmids that almost nobody but Brickhead seems to use or care about. There is a hint that they actually come from Plasmids but somehow don't do anything bad.

Enemies: Really feel this was scaled back. Most are generic humans. Some special enemies but they aren't very common and don't seem very mixed in. The gap in difficulty is very noticable. Robots are in but scaled back. Most aren’t memorable You don't get the same ecosystem feel. Falls short of System shock and roughly on par with previous bioshock.

Politics: Mostly ‘stereotypical rightwing extremist positions are bad’…with a little ‘oh yeah leftwingers can be bad too’. The rightwinger nationalists are often so extreme though, its arguable that they’re not a realistic portrayal of any period in US history. Curiously there isn’t as much about religion and really not much in the way of jabs at Americaphilia for all the talk of that being a theme. Columbia seems more like a crazy syncrestic cult of rebels than a parody of christianity or America. Assassin’s creed is could probably be taken to be more offensive on this front.

Story: Gets sort of confusing and there are numerous holes if you think too deeply. Brickhead and nice boobs are surprisingly nonchalant about the prospect of permanently trapping themselves in another dimension simply to solve their personal problems. Racist santa claus and his evil partners in general either don’t bother to utilize their powers fully or concoct needlessly elaborate schemes. Numerous things that happen especially toward the end seem to be leftovers from storylines that were never fully implemented and don’t really make sense. Still, though its ambitious to some extent and better than most of what else is out there.
