Greetings fellow members, I'm new to this site and was hoping to be pointed in the right direction over general information. I have plenty of experience with Army standard issue weapons (m4, Baretta m9, Mossberg 500, 240's and .50 cals with various mod and mounting packages).

I've also owned a Remington 870 tactical with a little bit of mods. However, I recently purchased the XDs 45 and was wondering if anyone knew a good accessory online store for things like extended 7 round mags and mag-only ankle holsters, just general accessories made for the XDs.

Anyhoo, it's about 2am and I should probably get to sleep. Thank you in advance for any referrals dedicated to XDs accessories. Nice to be part of this forum and meet good people with the wait for it...........drum roll................ highest caliber of information!:D

Hi everyone!!!

As a noob, I'm very excited to have joined this forum and the family of XD owners. After only 7 1/2 months of waiting for my FID & Pistol permit, I went out with a Glock in mind and decided on a XD45 for my first. Well, I knew from the few times of going to Sunset Hill Shooting Range it was going to be G21 vs. 1911 vs. XD. I liked the Glock for its simplicity, proven reliability, and minimal # of parts (I love taking EVERYTHING apart). The 1911 for the same reasons and a classic never dies. Then I shot the XD and it was LOVE. It instantly felt like an extension of my hand. What a relief from the bulbous grip on the Glock. and though the 1911 was great to shoot, it jammed on me twice by no fault of my own according to the instructor, so I had to eliminate it. So with tons of research, here I am.

Anyway, there's so much good info and support on this forum, I wanted to say thanks to all of you.

I have had a Springfield Armory 1911 for years now but I recently completed a LEO purchase directly from Springfield on a Champion Lightweight Operator. While at the gun shop looking for accessories they put an XDs in my hand and I figured "why not"! So later today I'm going to pick both up from my local gun shop.

so I usually just read what most people are talking about... but when I was at the range with my daughter (12yrs old) and she took my XDm 9, and put 19 rounds right down range like she had done it a million times I just had to say hi and see how and what the fan base here is telling/teaching/etc. to their kids... i'm glad to know that if she's ever at a friends and they "found" their parents weapon, my daughter knows enough render the weapon safe and call me or her mom... any thoughts?

I've been reading these boards for a few months now, thought I'd finally introduce myself.

The Springfield XD was the first pistol I ever bought. When it came time to purchase something, I went to my lgs and held every single thing they had. The XD just "felt" right, and I've been a fan ever since. Several years, and several guns later, I now own something from them in every caliber and carry an XDS daily. My father fell in love with my XDm and had to go out and buy a .45 and 9sc for himself.

Just Traded a Glock 27 For the XDS...I took it to the range today and shot 50 rounds through it. Kicks like a mule but seems to be very accurate. I think it'll make a great everyday CCW. Going to pick a IWB holster up soon.
Anyone have any experience with aliengear holsters? They look pretty good.

I'm carrying CCW, with a Xdm .40 Compact and love it. But at my recent tactical handgun class, early on, I was shooting horrible, and the instructor said, the gun was too small (and I have huge hands)....After instruction over 2 days, I was driving nails with it. I love the gun, but what are some thoughts on the need to go full length? I like the caliber, and can shoot good with it...so is there a need?

Budding new XDM .45 compact owner from East TN here.. and I have to say I LOVE this gun!!! It's the first Springfield I've ever owned (I've always been a Glock man) and based on the amount of fun I've had at the range with it there will certainly be more in my future!

It was down to this or the Glock 30 (which is what I originally went after) but after seeing what came with the XDM for a difference of $20 it was a no brainer. I really liked the XDS as well, but they only had a bi-tone in stock and I only like black guns.

I took it to the range the next day and put about 60 rounds through and I just can not stress how much I love this gun. Springfield's reputation certainly proceeds it, but having never owned or shot one I just couldn't believe how nice it felt in my hand, minimal recoil, overall quality etc. Very, very satisfied :) I will be using this as an EDC.

I purchased a 4.5 9mm xdm in black (wanted od) but for whatever reason ncic delayed my pickup last Friday for 3 biz days until the 23rd. Hopefully I will get it tomorrow, the 23, without issue from the ffl and be on my merry way! Anyone know the reason of these 5 day waits or is this something random? Or is it that I am somehow on a very bad list? Lol

Anyway, its been a long time since i've bought a gun with the last time being prior to 2000 purchasing a s&w 908 9mm. Hopefully tomorrow (not sure why not) I am the proud owner of a new xdm as well!

Any tips on cleaning, care, any must have upgrades and/or complaints?

Hey guys,

First and foremost, excited to be a member and look forward to learning alot from fellow enthusiasts.

As for a quick run down on myself, after enjoying the best 8 years of my life in college--working my way through junior college and Western Illinois University, I've recently graduated and look forward to the next phase of life as I begin my "professional career" next month.

As for hobbies, I enjoy salt water tank keeping, specifically the corals, working on my mustang, working out the 'ol squirt guns at the gym, and of course, obsessing over firearms�but enough about me more about why I�m here.

After a 4+ month search, and countless hours of research and trips to local FFLs, I finally decided on my first handgun; the Springfield XD in .40 cal.

Picking one up for the first time, I immediately enjoyed the ergonomic grip, solid feel, quality design, and the great beefy-looks that tie it all together. This weekend I was fortunate enough to win an auction and soon (but naturally, never soon enough) will be the proud new owner of a service model FDE XD40.

I appreciate all the information and insight I�ve found already, and I look forward to expanding my XD and firearm knowledge on the great platform the XDtalk forum provides.

I've been a Taurus man and carry Taurus 24/7 DS in .45 With its full size for carry has wore thin on me for the third straight years. I decided to get a smaller frame for CCW.

I never meant for the buy to happen yesterday. Somehow, I was in right place at the right time. The store had it, momma said I could have it. Wasn't gonna challenge that. Filled out paperwork as fast i could, before she changed her mind. lol Walked out with it. I've always wanted XD for a long time but went with Taurus due to price wise but this time, it didnt matter! :lol:

Hello all. I am a newbie to the handgun ownership world. My name is Joe, I'm 21 years old and live in the overly oppressive tyrannical state of New York (Gross right?). I handed in my application for my pistol permit the day after my 21st birthday in November and it just arrived in the mail a week ago. I purchased an XDS in .45 as my first one. Haven't gotten a chance to shoot it just yet but everything I've read regarding the gun has been positive. So anyway, I use this username on several other forums so if you recognize me, feel free to PM me. A little about me, I grew up shooting, hunting and fishing. Today I'm an avid bowhunter and just getting into handguns. I hope to relocate sometime within the next 6 months to a year down to Texas. My family just purchased some property in the Hill Country and after being down there for a week last month, that just about ruined me. I know where I belong. I look forward to being a contributing member here and learning from other XD owners!

I am proud to say that yesterday I "pulled the trigger" and laid out the cash for my very 1st personal firearm ever. I chose the XDm .45 4.5". I am not new to firearms as I was raised with military on both sides of my family. I say this with much respect as a civilian and grandson, my Jarhead Grandfather taught me about shooting long rifles and shotguns. How to hunt and skin in in northern California and New Mexio. My Squid Grandfather taught me about handguns and how to reload shells and cartidges and make homemade silencers in california. Sadly they both passed before I was of age and worth my salt to purchase and responsibley own my own. So time went by and life got busy. I have finally 'woke up' and now understand the true importance of this day and age to excersizing my constitutional right and more or less, my duty as a red blooded American. So yes I am a born again virgin to the world of firearms and as such will have many eager questions. I joined this forum because 7 out of 10 times I pose a question to google this forum was always listed in the top suggestions and has since brought me much knowledge. I chose the XDm .45 for a few reasons. I've fired my friends XD a few times and was already familiar and in love with it. I originally wanted the 9mm version but here in Hawaii that is a rare find. I just so happen to go back into the gun store I have been stocking up on 9mm ammo from until I was able to buy the gun and they had literally just got in the .45. So I jumped on it. Now I have a 1, 200 rounds of 9mm lol and a .45 gun with probably the mlst scarce cartridge I can not find on this rock!
So my 1st question to you all is (and please don't give me your opinion unless you actually reload yourself if possible) I am currently jumping head 1st into this new hobby. Yes money is an issue but lets be honest, it looks like I can set myself up to reload my own ammo for less than $800-900 and thats with 500 rounds when all is done. Then it looks like it'll cost me about $150-250 for 1, 000 .45 rounds from there on out depending on how I choose to reload. And yes i will be most likely buying the HK p30 9mm next and plan on reloading those aswell. Not to mention my new kick is learing how to cast my own. I have unlimited supply of free lead (i moved to Hawaii because i am a master scuba instructor so lead abounds!) So long term it seems logical to invest and take the hobby to a whole new fun and deeper level and not have to be 100% dependent on the market in these times of ammo crysis and non representing representitives (for the most part) of We the people times. Look, I'm not rich and I will probably not send enough bullets down range for some of you to justify the investment. But I'm talking LONG term. Lifetime firearm ownership and supply needs. You think you have it bad buying ammo on the mainland? Ha! Come to my rock where it has to be trucked then shipped in not just trucked from the manufacturer. Supply and demand take on a whole new meaning in such a small gun owner per capita location. So thank you for any and all advice in advance. Yes I'm long winded. It's called passion :) aand I've finally found another one in my right to bear arms!

Too Fat to Conceal??

Hi, I'm Sarge or to be exact sarge6847.

I am a three hundred pounder and I don't exactly hate that all the time but I have found that wearing my new XD 9 is not exactly carrying a "concealed" weapon.

Never mind the fact that my clothes are instantly tighter, or that the gun itself bulges visibly, I also can't find (search just started) a holster that fits and fells well.

The hard one that came with the gun is not a conceal holster and I don't like the way it fits even as an open carry holster. The Uncle Mike's that I bought just to try something was cheap enough but it is very clumsey to put on the waistband or take off without undoing my pants.

So unless I'm the only big guy that has a CPL and wants to conceal I'm hoping someone has been down this road and can/will assist.

This is a cool place by the way.

Yesterday I acquired my first Springfield handgun, an XD-45 full size with 4" barrel in ODG. My XD is also my first 45 ACP handgun. I also own a Ruger P95 9mm and several CZ handguns. Oh, and I will also be picking up my first Glock from the FFL today -- a new compact G23 40 S&W.

I have just become the proud owner of a Glock 22, 40 cal and was pleased to find this forum. I am looking forward to joining in and contributing.

So far I have lightened the trigger as well as put an extended slide rail release and night sights on my 22....... still waiting for my licence though so
it's still at the gunsmith.........Have put 400 rounds through it with no malfunctions and am very pleased with it's performance, haven't fired a weapon in 15 years...

Have tried to insert some pics but apparently can't until I have reached 10 or more posts......strange.

Hello, everyone. Excited to be a member. Hadn't done much shooting for a long time after selling my Colt Combat Commander back in the '80s. Last year picked up a used Ruger P93 9mm but it was obvious that wasn't going to work with a concealed carry permit. So I bit the bullet and bought what I consider just about the nicest pistol out there -- the XD9 sub compact. I took it to the range and ran 100 rds through it and absolutely love it. I have a buddy that just got the XDS .45 cal. single stack which he also loves (ex cop). I went with the 9mm because (A) I wanted something my mate could handle easily and (B) I don't have any 45 ammo and have 700 rds of 9mm. Now I'm getting my rig put together.

I have attended several of Rio Salado's/ Rob Leathams intro to steel shoots and just completed the PSSC so I can move on to other competitions. Spent the last 15 or so years serving my country both active and reserve. Currently in college trying to get educated. I made my first Springfield purchase with the XDS about a month ago. The size of the XDS is perfect for me to conceal as I am of the smaller stature myself.

I Just bought my first XD pistol. I held the S&W M&P Shield, and several others until getting my hands on this one. It actually fit my hands unlike the other small pistols. Oh, and it's a .45...

I took a S&W 5 shot J frame out of layaway and let them keep it.

I took the XMs 45 instead. Can't wait to shoot it.

Not really a new member. Joined almost a year ago when I got my XDm .45 compact. Have just been lurking around since then and have really enjoyed the knowledge provided by many of the members here. Just got a new XDs yesterday. Looking to use this form my EDC to replace my LCP as soon as I get a good IWB holster.
