I'm thinking of buying a G36. I fondled it yesterday at my local LGS. I liked the feel and it would fill a need/want for my current stable. Price is ok, $580 out the door. I just wanted some feedback from here and to do some research before buying. It's a 3rd generation, I think.

I have shot Glocks in the past and really liked the trigger but other than that, I have no experience with them.

I have read some so, so reviews about this particular Glock. Anyone with experience or thoughts about this?

I plan on picking up a sr22 for my daughter to learn on and use she is in her mid 20's and said it's time for here to learn lol. I was wondering if anyone here has had any issues with the sr22. From what I have seen in my research has mostly been good but thought I would ask here.

I finally managed to find mags for my M&P22! I've been stuck with just the single mag it came with when I bought it in February. Finally found someone who had them and wasn't charging insane prices. Guy on Gunbroker had a set of 2 mags for $70. Didn't seem to bad to me these days, $35 per mag is more than I'd like to see them, but its still reasonable given today's market and definitely better than the $75-80 I saw them going for at gun shows a few months ago.

Sent in my payment today so I should hopefully have them by next week.

I want something that can be pocket carried without noticeable print. Preferably something ultra-reliable, concealable, economic, and light weight...

I want something that can be pocket carried without noticeable print. Preferably something ultra-reliable, concealable, economic, and light weight (without going down to .380). I've been researching and have narrowed my list down to the following-

Kahr CM9
Ruger LC9
Glock 26
Walther PPS

They each have their advantages and disadvantages against the others. Kahr is the smallest, Glock is big but has 10rd capacity and has a reliable reputation (but is most expensive), Ruger is also reliable and I like that it comes with a safety, the Walther looks pretty slim too. The Glock is probably the best all around, but may not be suited for pocket carry and costs about 100 more than Kahr or Ruger. I can't make up my mind.

Feel free to give me other options...

This one is chambered in .40 s&w though I will be converting it to 9mm at my earliest opportunity. Not because .40 s&w is bad, necessarily, but because I'm looking for a cheaper regular shooter than my TRP and XDS. Although, with my Daewoo DH-40 up for consignment at a local shop, it is nice to have another option during our current ammo-availability-constrained times.

Range report coming as soon as I can make it there!

Hey, I have put 400 rounds through my Glock 19 3rd Gen since getting it and I haven't had any failures of any kinds. I am not sure about something though and wanted to get some opinions from others with the G19 3rd Gen.

In this video you can see plenty of footage of the extraction and ejection of the spent brass. To me, it seems a bit weak. My basis for comparison are my XDM 4.5, the XDM 3.8 Compact, and my Beretta 92fs. But those 9mm's seem to really chuck the brass compared to this Glock 19.

It hasn't caused any problems or malfunctions, other than getting beaned in the head a few times, but I wasn't sure if this was standard or if it looked weak.

So I'm trying to trade a Remington 700LTR that I never fired for a P226 Tacops or Dark Elite in 9mm.

I had some nibbles, but no bites.

But now I have someone really interested, but they have a very lightly used P226 TacOps in .40 S&W. I thought, not a big deal, it's a Sig right? I can make it into whatever.

I don't want a Bar-Sto drop-in barrel conversion because the front sight height is different between 9mm and .357/.40 so I'd prefer the proper x-change kit from Sig.

I can't find one anywhere, and they aren't listed on the Sig site (other than in .22LR). I'm afraid they are gone forever!!! (kidding...sorta)

Can you guys help me find one so I can make this trade in good conscience?

Thanks!

Oh, here are some example links...

Hello, I need some advice on sighting in my Nano's Night Sights. The windage is dead on but the elevation is shooting 8" high at 21 feet when aiming at the bullseye on a paper target. The Trijicon Sights came with no directions and it doesn't appear than can be adjusted for elevation. I haven't came across a bore sighter that is short enough to fit into the barrel either. I welcome any ideas and thank you for your time. BTW, as soon as an XDS 9 is available to buy, it will be my regular carry gun. But it's likely months away still.

well i have purchased a Desert Eagle XIX Satin Nickel in 44mag (50AE barrel will be bought at a later time) im waiting for it to ship to my FFL.

this is a dream gun of mine and i know it is a gun you either love it or hate it. this is definitely a fun gun for me, no reason other then i wanted one.

i purchased the 44mag version because its a bit cheaper to shoot then the 50AE, and of course the ammo is "easier" to come by, that says alot since ammo period is hard to get. im not worried about recoil, i shot the big Smith and Wesson 500 Magnum, and i can one hand that all day, alot of fun.

anyone here have any experience with the Desert Eagle?

Report Raises Concern About Glock Handguns
May 13, 2013 11:04 PM
MIAMI (CBS4) – A never before released report by the Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office raises questions about the reliability of the Glock semi-automatic handgun used by its deputies. Obtained by CBS4 News, the confidential sheriff’s department document outlines a series of incidents in which problems with the Glock firing pin caused the gun to malfunction and not fire.

Issued by the department’s armorer, or gun expert, the March 13 report is titled simply: Firing Pin Issue. In each case where there was a misfire, the gun was taken apart and the firing pin was found to be cracked or chipped. The report includes photos of the failed firing pins.

The problems were found primarily in the Glock 40 caliber, but also showed up in the 9 mm. So far all of the incidents occurred during training exercises. There have been no reports of the firing pin failing in the field. A spokeswoman for the Palm Beach Sheriff’s Department confirmed the agency was working with both Glock officials and representatives of its ammunition supplier to address the problem. Glock officials refused repeated requests from CBS4 News for comment.

Glock’s relationship to law enforcement is one of the company’s most prized possessions. Today no gun is more identifiable with law enforcement than the Glock. By the company’s own estimate, 65 percent of all police officers in the United States carry a Glock handgun. The company’s website showcases videos touting this close bond with police. Approximately 7,500 law enforcement agencies use the Glock, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Drug Enforcement Agency, and the New York Police Department. Locally, Glocks are used by the Broward Sheriff’s Office and the Miami Dade Police Department, as well as police departments in Fort Lauderdale, Hialeah, Miami, and Coral Gables.

CBS4 News found that many of those South Florida departments were aware of the concerns being raised by the Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office. The Miami Dade Police Department even went so far as to produce a five minute video warning officers about the possible problem. CBS4 News was provided a copy of the video, which opens with ominous music and a warning about the firing pins and instructs the officers how to inspect their firing pins for signs of a problem. A Miami Dade Police spokesman told CBS4 News: “We have randomly inspected numerous Glock 17s (9mm) and have seen no issues to date. However, we will continue to inspect throughout the year and replace any firing pin with an issue.”

The Miami Police Department was having every firing pin inspected. The Coral Gables Police Department took the preemptive step of asking Glock to replace all of the firing pins in their guns. Glock immediately sent Coral Gables a box of new firing pins. CBS4 News has learned that representatives from Glock’s headquarters in Georgia flew in last month to meet with Palm Beach Sheriff’s officials. Sources tell CBS4 News that Glock is focusing the blame on the type of ammo being used by the Sheriff’s

A spokesman for Speer Ammunition, the company that provides ammunition to the PBSO, told CBS4 News:
“We are committed to providing our customers with the best ammunition available to meet their needs. We have been working directly and swiftly with the Palm Beach Sheriff’s Department and their firearms manufacturer to determine a solution for their concerns about premature firing pin erosion. We are confident that we’ve jointly addressed their concern.”
Asked to elaborate on how the PBSO’s “concern” was addressed, the company declined to say.

CBS4 News showed the Palm Beach report to local gunsmiths and armorers, including Robert Hasmi, president of Absolute Tactical Solutions in Miami Lakes and a police officer in South Florida for more than 20 years. “Remember these are all working metal parts rubbing against each other constantly, that’s how a gun works,” said Hasmi. “The slide rubs against the frame, the barrel rubs against the slide when it, when you form its actions. It’s metal rubbing against metal.” Hasmi said the possible culprit is the type of metal Glock uses in its firing pin. “If the metal is too soft that the manufacturer uses, that could also be an issue,” he said.

Glock refuses to say what type of metal they use – arguing it’s a trade secret.

CBS4 News spoke to other gunsmiths and armorer who agreed the quality of the metal used in the firing pin could be the key to understanding the problem. But they declined to make their concerns public for fear of alienating the gun giant.

Hasmi said after CBS4 News first sent him the report, he took apart his own Glock weapon – the one he carries when he is on duty. He said he found unusual chips on the head of his firing pin. Asked if it concerned him, he replied: “Yes it did. I wasn’t aware of this issue that’s going on [until I read the report]. I mean I don’t put an excessive amount of rounds through my gun. I fire maybe five to six hundred rounds a year out of it.” Hasmi said while his gun has never failed, he wasn’t going to take a chance and planned on replacing the firing pin immediately.

This is not the first time questions have been raised about Glock firing pins and so-called “light strikes” – a problem where the firing pin fails to properly strike a bullet’s primer. In 2005, the Los Angeles Police Department took the unusual step of temporarily ordering its officers to stop using the Glock .45 caliber over the same issue.

Retired cop Wally Philbrick is the owner of the 911 Store – a gun store and firing range in Hollywood. Although he is not authorized to speak on behalf of Glock, Philbrick is a certified Glock armorer. He has nothing but praise for the firearm. “I carried Glock for 30 years in SWAT, it’s a great gun,” he said. “It functions, it’s light weight, its inexpensive, it works dirty, it works clean, it works under water, it’s a fine firearm.”

He said he suspected the problem could be with the ammunition. He explained that some rounds are hotter – packed with more powder – than others which could damage the pins. If the police are their number one consumer, and the type of ammo police use was the issue, then why shouldn’t Glock simply design and build a firing pin that can withstand the type ammo officers use? “Well Glock’s been in business a long, long time,” he said. “And the issue as far as I know is with one department only and it’s not nationwide and it’s not worldwide.”

What I am looking for:

1. My xdm 9mm had a 4.5 inch barrel...I am looking for a longer barrel like my ruger mk III .22
2. Absolutely no subcompact, no no no

I have found the Ruger Blackhawk Combination does have a 6 inch barrel and exchangable 45 colt and .45acp so revolvers are fair game as well.
Thank you for your feed back in advance

Looking for a high capacity 9 w/ rail. Why you ask? Aside from "because I like guns" I would like to fill the following needs..

Night Stand Gun (w/ light)

Cheaper Range time (compared to .45s)

Maybe some entry level shooting competition (have a 1911 too though)

Here is how I got where I am...

I had been looking for an XDM-9 5.25 to no avail, but I heard Rob Leatham shoots a 4.5 XD. I'm no Rob Leatham, but I can pretend. I sort of assumed the XDM would be a better choice for what I want to do. I've been wrong before.

The guys at one of my LGSs recommended (emphatically) the M&P Shield (non-pro) One of em shot it competitively and really liked it.

I found a P226 TacOps that is reasonably priced (two actually, more on that later), and I've always wanted a sig. Theres just something about a full frame service oriented hammer gun make me all giddy. Felt good in the hand too.

I've never really spent quality time with a Glock, my LGS has the Glock 34 on the shelf, but every time I've held one close they felt pretty impersonal and snooty. The forward cant of the forward face of the grip/frame tend to stick a glock's nose in the air in my hands. I'd have to spend some time correcting that.

I'm also up for other suggestions!

Thanks for your help!

Bought a new gun but it is the wife's mother's day gift. She enjoys shooting, but is not happy with the recoil and noise, plus the arthritis in her hands makes racking the slide on my Xd's and Kahr's a chore. So for mother's day, she is getting a S&W M&P 22. My boys {15 & 11} are excited and they wanted to take it out and break it in for her....

I had been looking for something that she will be able to shoot on a regular basis and be comfortable with. She does have a LCR 38 for carrying, but it is not a good range gun and I think this 22 will be great.

Fits well and seems like a true full sized weapon and when she gets comfortable with it, I can see a M&P 9 making its way into the safe.... The slide is easy to cycle, the safety is solid, and the trigger is decent. One thing I was not happy about is that it only comes with one magazine and they are hard to find. Was able to pick up a couple on gunbroker at only half again what they are worth.

Sorry for the poor pictures: a black gun on a black mat and using a cell phone is not going to provide good pics. After we shoot it, I'll hit some more with the camera.

So my wife's pregnant(our first) so she wants to take the ccw class after she has the baby. We have been looking at guns and she talked about a revolver. Today we went to gander and she was looking at some semi autos. The guy showed her a beretta storm in 9 some tiny karh she didn't like in 9 and then we got to the sig p290. She stopped the guy and said ok this is the one. I held it and it really felt nice. I'm a sig fan anyway own 4 already but I have to say I was really amazed when I got this in my hand. It's tiny but feels like a real gun not a little toy, and the trigger... Omg... I was ready to trade one of my others for this. It's a double action trigger but its gotta be less then 5lbs pull. I didn't shoot it yet but I'm guessing it will be awesome.

So I'm at the gun shop/range yesterday afternoon and I ask the guy, got any glock 19's in stock? Actually a whole bunch just came in, he tells me. Now I've never held a G19 in hand before but I had fired a friends Glock 21 in .45 and 22 in .40 and I wasn't crazy about either of them. Maybe it was they were both full sized, or bigger calibers (although I have a few .45 1911's I love), I'm not sure. But the G19 felt great. I put 100 rounds through it before bringing it home.

When I got it back to the house I think my XDm 3.8 Compact gave me a dirty look as I walked in the door.

I haven't had the XDm 3.8 Compact for all that long, I've only had it out to the range 3 times so far. I've put 300 trouble free rounds through it over those 3 trips. So my experience with it so far isn't very extensive at all.

There are things I like about one that I don't like on the other, and vice versa. So, while I need to get in more trigger time on both, I'm not sure which one I I'll be going with to EDC. I figured I'd share some of my initial impressions and others with experience on both weapons can tell me what way they went for EDC/CCW and why.

• The XDM grip beats the Glocks. The swell in the lower back strap on the Glock fulls up my palm too much, and it's not the most comfortable. I also prefer the texture/traction on the XDM grip. The Gen 3 Glock grip texture feels a bit slick, but it's usable. I have heard a lot of talk about the grip angle of the glock being bad, and the XDM being the same as a 1911. That isn't noticeable to me, I have no problem with the grip angle of either weapon. The 13 round mag does require a Pearce grip extension for me and my grip however. Without that addon the XDM grip is too short.

• I think I prefer the Glock trigger. There is less travel, a cleaner (although heavier) break, and a much shorter reset. The XDM trigger isn't bad but it's a longer pull and it feels very spongy the whole length of the pull. The break of the trigger isn't as crisp as the glocks, but it does feel noticeably lighter. The XDM reset is no where near as good as the Glocks.

• I like the sights on the XDM better. I'm not a fan of the rear sight on the Glock yet, I'm not sure if I'll come around or not. I like a good 3 dot sight, and the XDM sights are made of metal, which is a minor thing but I like it.

• 15+1 on the glock beats 13+1. Thats a small but nice benefit. Obviously you can go 19+1 extended mag in the XDM but I'd never carry it like that, so it's not really relevant to my EDC decision.

• So far I've shot the XDM slightly better. At 5-7 yards my groups with the XDM were a little bit tighter. Both are accurate enough for social work so I'm not sure how much stock to put into this, but it is a point in favor of the XDM. I think I need more trigger time on both to really see which one I shoot better however. I shoot my Springfield 1911 Mil-Spec significantly better than both, so if accuracy was the main issue I'd just carry that (and some times do), but the weight is a major issue.

• Speaking of weight, the Glock is a bit lighter. Not much, but a little. However, it does feel like it is balanced better. The XDM is a top heavy, comparatively. That's not to say the XDM is too top heavy, just that compared to the G19 it is a little top heavy.

So what can I say. I really like them both. Some +'s and -'s compared to one another that I've noticed so far. That said none of it is deal breakers and I feel like I can't go wrong with either. But I'm not going to carry both. So... Which do you pick?

So out of all my .45s unless I'm having a bad day my groupings at 25 feet are great and I've never really had any issues. However I can't for the life of me get my Glock 21SF tamed. No matter what I do I am all over the place with it.

Tonight I pretty much reached a breaking point. Does anyone else have this issue? I had a buddy at work who is a Glock fanatic shoot it and he was nailing his shots. It is my only Glock but I rarely shoot it. Do you think I owe the gun some more practice before I trade/sell it?

End rant.

I have decided to get a 10mm, after some research I am thinking about getting a Witness in 10mm. The cost is reasonable and it has a 15 round capacity. A friend has a 9mm Witness and I have shot it. that gun is accurate and comfortable to shoot but I wondered if anyone here has had any experiance with the 10mm witness. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I'm familiar with the Glock "works" and Glock does offer Glock reliability factors but, the ATI Titan offers all the looks and works of a Kimber 1911 without all the extra price...
Both pistols (GL30 & ATI 45) are offered at nearly the same price here in the Cincinnati area. Which one would you get?....

cleaned and lubed.

I took my momma gun shoppin' last week. she has been on the fence about getting her concealed carry and owning a gun. she says she wants to and when it comes down to trying she acts like she doesn't want to.

I kind of shanghai'd her into going with me to look at pistols for her. she had an idea of what she wanted LC9/LC380 ish... but when she actually held them she didn't like the feel of it in her hand. she likes the M&P a lot had trouble with the recoil spring (she had trouble on all the 9mm's we looked at).

also both gun counter guys were obnoxious... but that's another story for another post I may not get into.

a few days ago I was out with my brother doing car guy things and picked up a local freebie paper and saw an ad for the 238.

yesterday I shanghai'd mom again and drove out to the place. I was there to buy a 238 for myself and introduce mom to the process. I explained to the guy that I was helping mom find her carry piece and he was very helpful. mom can rack this .380 easily and she can work the controls because it fits her hand.

she wants to go shoot it before she decides what she wants. its about what she likes and what she shoots best, eh?

anyway... I got a new SiG... The SiGlet.

night sights
bi tone
rubber wrap around grip (that feels good in my hand)
Laser (I doubt I will use)

515 bucks. good deal?

I love my XDs but with warmer weather I know I won't be able to carry it everywhere during the summer. My backup choice is the Ruger LCP. I've heard a few complaints about this gun so I've tried to address those with a few upgrades so hopefully I won't have any issues.

Here is the gun stock with the extended grip base plate it comes with.
Attachment 20623

Just enough grip to get two solid fingers on. However the trigger is heavy and mushy. It's heavy as its double action only and that's a safety feature. It's mushy because its a thin piece of plastic. I addressed that issue by swapping out the stock trigger for an adjustable aluminum one. Now the trigger is crisp and responsive.
Attachment 20624

I had to completely take apart the gun to get to the trigger. While I was in there I replaced the recoil spring guide rod with a stainless one... Why not.. The stock one was already heavily scratched on a new gun. I applied frog lube while I was in there and spot checked everything for burrs etc.

Attachment 20625

Now it was looking pretty good. Here is the LCP next to my XDs for size reference.
<a href="http://www.xdtalk.com/forums/attachments/non-xd-handguns/20626-ruger-lcp-upgrades-imageuploadedbytapatalk1367600480.636798.jpg" target="_blank" title="Name:
One of the other major complaints if the LCP is the grip. Some don't like the small thin grip and others note the gun pops upward as you shoot. I have big hands so this is a concern for me. Thankfully Hogue makes a grip for the LCP that anchors into the rear pin. As a bonus it reduces felt recoil.

Since the sights are practically non existent and the effective range and likely use case for this "pocket gun" are less than 10m a laser is a practical choice. After taking a few firearms courses its obvious anything that you need to think about turning on, like a laser with an on off switch, is a bad idea. Crimson Trace's design that turns on when you grip the gun is really the only laser I trust.

Thankfully Hogue also makes a grip that accommodates the CT laser on the LCP. Here is a picture of all of the accessories together.

<a href="http://www.xdtalk.com/forums/attachments/non-xd-handguns/20627-ruger-lcp-upgrades-imageuploadedbytapatalk1367600958.017729.jpg" target="_blank" title="Name:
Now that is my idea of a pocket gun. Currently I am carrying this in a Desantis Superfly and its a great combo. I'm looking forward to getting a few hundred rounds down range with this setup so I can fine tune it and try some different holsters and draws.

Just thought I would share what I did and some pictures with you guys.

So, im thinking that the next gun i buy needs to be a .22 pistol, and being fairly new to guns im not really sure which road to go down with a nice .22 for the range & something that my Fiance can learn to shoot pistol with.

Can you guys make any suggestions? Really my main focus is finding something for her to learn with, as i do fine with my .40 but a .22 that i will take with me to every range trip and something so she can tag along too. Need some advice

And yes i realize she needs to pick it out with what she likes and all that, i just want to be able to steer her in some direction, and i really dont understand the difference in .22, .22LR, and rimfire and all that stuff. i could google it but i like stuff being given to me. haha

I have a random mystery which needs solving...so let me explain what happens...

One day, I decided to carry a different .45 than my M&P .45c for awhile. So, I unloaded the two spare magazines (both with the finger plate) in a pile, and then pulled the third magazine from the gun itself, also with a finger plate.

Unloading that magazine, I got to round 7/8 which popped out with no tension while round 8 simply fell out with the follower stuck about 1/4inch deep. Hmmmmmmmm. Wtf is going on here?

Never had a single issue before.

So, I took apart one of the other magazines and the magazine that acted up. When I took apart the bad actor, the spring was bent at quiet a steep angle. Comparing the two magazine bodies, followers, springs, floor plates etc I noticed absolutely nothing out of the ordinary beyond the fact that the spring was bent.

After reassembly, I did several tests where I loaded the bad magazine back up about 6 times, unloaded it with the same result of round 7 popping right out and round 8 falling out without tension and the follower being stuck, then disassembling it to find that the spring had re-bent itself after being straightened.

I have a fourth magazine with a flat plate that I took the spring out of and put in the finger plate magazine. It loaded and unloaded just fine. So I straightened the spring to how it should be, put it in the flat plate magazine and ta-da, it did the same thing.

By now, I am sure that something is wrong with the spring. My problem is that out of the blue, with no previous malfunctions, it just started having this issue.

My question is why? Did the spring just fail because of a defect? Was it not made correctly and chose now as the time to stop being springy?

Please. help me shed some light on this issue.

Does anyone make a drop in replacement Sig Mosquito threaded barrel in a 1X9 twist instead of the usual factory 1X15 or 1X16 twist? There must be somebody out there. All NFA rules apply. HB of CJ (old coot) :)

Hi,
I got a new out the box 92fs about a year ago and have shot almost 500 rounds. All the normal wear marks that I read about online are there, ie scuff marks on the barrel as it makes contact with the slide where it passes through.
My question is there are what look to be almost semicircular scuff marks to the bottom left of the barrel on the breech face, by the feed ramp. But none to the right. What could be causing this or is it normal?

So we had a Beretta M9 come in as a trade at my work. I spotted it out and got it for a KILLER price. Upon looking it over I found that it had the US Military proof marks and serialized hammer. Turns out it's one from ONE run of them Beretta made in the 90s that were identical to the Military issue in every single way. Even has the factory metal guide rod etc.. She was barely ever shot and aside from some minor holster wear looked perfect! Apparently the DOD didn't like that and asked Beretta to stop. Here's a link on more info.

Had her at the range today and I can honestly say I'm as accurate with this pistol as I am my Sig P226.

Wideners is selling off a large lot of Sig P6 German military surplus pistols with two 8rd mags and a holster for $389 + shipping. I just placed my order about an hour ago and notified my FFL, who is standing by for delivery.

The P6 is a military version of the P225 single-stack 9mm traditional double-action pistol with decocker. The magazine release on this version appears to be in the standard location, as opposed to earlier versions with the european-style mag release at the bottom of the grip. The initial double action trigger pull is reportedly very stout, and the P6's made prior to late '89 had a barrel feed ramp angle that didn't always facilitate feeding of hollowpoint bullets.

All is not lost, however. There's suppliers who sell reduced power mainsprings to fix the heavy DA trigger pull, and the feed ramp may either be re-profiled or replaced with the civilian P225 barrel, from what I've gathered. I'll try re-profiling the ramp if the pistol doesn't seem keen on feeding HP's.
Can't wait for it to show up so I can start messing with it.

I have a revolver I am trying to get information on.
It has on it Rohm Gmbh Sontheim/Br.
It also has RG38 on the grips. It is a 38 Special made in Germany.
Is this revolver worth anything? I am interested in a Beretta Nano and would like to partially trade this handgun in on it. But I don't know how much I should consider this handgun on the trade.
Does anyone have any info on this handgun and a value potential on it?
