Holster for my XD-S

With 8 weeks to the day gone by, my holster was waiting for me when I got home from work. They said there was an 8 week lead time when I ordere....little did I know it was 8 weeks to the day. :) I wish other companies could be so exact.

Details can be found in my XD-S holster review, albeit it hasn't seen much wear time as of yet....more of a first impression and overall quality review.

Only 39 cents of every dollar donated to the red cross gets put into the actual effort. Are charities getting too large? Should charities be more local / as needed? Salaries are getting as large as the charities. I would feel much better donating if less than 650k + expenses + 6 weeks paid vacation were going to the CEO (red cross). Others are even worse...

Hey guys, after posting on here that I decided on a 4.5 inch xdm many people got me to rethink on the 3.8 inch. I am just curious as to what others think and who have had an experience with either of these guns. It'll be my first handgun so it'd be greatly appreciated. I'm not necessarily looking for this gun to be a carry concealed as I'd more just go with an outside hop holster, but I would carry it and also mainly use it for range shooting. Any comments would be helpful.

Gun show ammo?

Just wondering what kind of deals/experiences you guys have found at gun shows?

I hit one up a few months ago in Columbia, SC. Plentiful handgun ammo, .22lr was still outrageous ($60-80 per brick), but I did come away with a Georgia Arms can of 500 .223 rounds for $255 dollars. Still pretty high, but cheap compared to other scalpers, and it was the very first .223 I had found anywhere post-Newtown.

Columbia is having another gun show June 8th and now I'm in the mood for some bulk 9mm so I can buy another handgun. Here's to hoping for some good deals (and hopefully no buying limits).

I wish there was a way to check specific gun show inventories ahead of time instead of just showing up and hunting. The last show was survival of the fittest.

Hi all,
Budding new XDM .45 compact owner from East TN here.. and I have to say I LOVE this gun!!! It's the first Springfield I've ever owned (I've always been a Glock man) and based on the amount of fun I've had at the range with it there will certainly be more in my future!

It was down to this or the Glock 30 (which is what I originally went after) but after seeing what came with the XDM for a difference of $20 it was a no brainer. I really liked the XDS as well, but they only had a bi-tone in stock and I only like black guns.

I took it to the range the next day and put about 60 rounds through and I just can not stress how much I love this gun. Springfield's reputation certainly proceeds it, but having never owned or shot one I just couldn't believe how nice it felt in my hand, minimal recoil, overall quality etc. Very, very satisfied :) I will be using this as an EDC.

What's the rules on carrying in a park like Chiricahua National Monument? I took my CCW a few years ago now and I don't remember if the details for Federal lands have changed.

I remembered something like the red text and the prohibited buildings wording. My favorite part is the blue text, they specifically caution about food storage and pets being bear and mountain lion snacks.

Finally got my new xds 45 on Sunday and shot it that evening and wow what a nice gun! I really love it and so happy with my purchase but I was wondering if anyone makes trigger kits like ghost inc makes for glocks like on my glock 23 I replaced the connector with a ghost edge and it made it much lighter and smoother... Anything like that for xds? Also I noticed that I was shooting way low on any shots over ten yards holding dead on... Anyone else experience this?

I'm planning some vacation time this fall. The only thing that worries me is traveling and getting pulled over with a loaded firearm. I have looked at handgunlaw.us but really couldn't find anything about transporting a firearm. Maybe I'm over thinking this. I have reciprocity with all the states I'll be going through except Illinois. That would be bad to get pulled over for speeding for something stupid and get in more trouble. Hope someone can help me out.:confused:

Revolver for my mom

So I wanted to get a gun for my mom for a while , I made her my wife and my dad go to the class. She decided she liked revolver better then a semi auto. So the hunt for a revolver was on, I found a charter arms chic lady that I thought was pretty cool. I showed my mom and she instantly fell in love with it, it has a pink anodized frame, with a polished stainless steel barrel and nose. It also comes with a pink alligator gun case. So I went to the lgs to check it out and it felt horrible! I was suggested the smith and Wesson 637 which was a much better gun! So I told my mom about it and of course I was asked is it pink? Is it polished? Does it come in a pink alligator case? Lol no, I don't want t, mom it's a much better gun, I don't care , mom let's go to the store to check it out, ok. So we go there and she feels the charter arms and was like I like it, then we check out the smith and Wesson 637 and she can feel the difference so she looked at the 638 which she hated the style while looking the first time and falls in love with that one. So I get her that with the pink handle and plan on getting it polished after she puts a few rounds throught it, then I go to check out and my wife is like I like that I want one too! So I ending buying two 638! Lol though it wasn't the next gun I planned on getting for my collection, if it gets my wife more into the hobby I'll go with it!

New Indiana xdm owner - soon

I purchased a 4.5 9mm xdm in black (wanted od) but for whatever reason ncic delayed my pickup last Friday for 3 biz days until the 23rd. Hopefully I will get it tomorrow, the 23, without issue from the ffl and be on my merry way! Anyone know the reason of these 5 day waits or is this something random? Or is it that I am somehow on a very bad list? Lol

Anyway, its been a long time since i've bought a gun with the last time being prior to 2000 purchasing a s&w 908 9mm. Hopefully tomorrow (not sure why not) I am the proud owner of a new xdm as well!

Any tips on cleaning, care, any must have upgrades and/or complaints?

When the gun did not fire Villanueva-Vasquez then racked the slide twice and fired twice more, but still the gun malfunctioned.

Villanueva-Vasquez fled the scene on foot.

The woman sustained a small cut to her face and positively identified Villanueva-Vasquez as her attacker.

Florida Teacher Suspended for Touching Student with 'Banana Penis'

"There was nothing else to it," the attorney said.

After conducting its own investigation into the matter, the school district issued Hampton an official reprimand saying it was poor judgement on his part to use "a banana to make physical contact with a student."

The teacher has since completed the three-day suspension and was allowed to return to class.

O'Malley forces Beretta to move from Maryland

This morning, Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley signed into law SB281, a bill that will severely limit the Constitutionally-protected rights of American citizens in the State of Maryland.
Following the signature of the Bill into law, Beretta has issued the following statement, regarding our company's position regarding the law, and our willingness to remain in the State of Maryland.
You may also wish to read this article, outlining our future plans to remain in a state that has chosen to cripple its citizens' Second Amendment rights.
"The firearm companies owned by Beretta Holding in Maryland�Beretta U.S.A. Corp., Benelli U.S.A. Corporation and Stoeger Industries, Inc.�have all been deeply concerned about Governor Martin O�Malley�s effort this year to impose broad new restrictions on the rights of Maryland citizens to buy firearms, as well as on the types of firearms and firearm magazines they can acquire. The Companies have submitted comments before the Maryland legislature and to the press condemning these efforts and stating that the Governor's anti-gun activity is causing them to evaluate whether they want to remain in this State.
Notwithstanding some media reports to the contrary, those efforts have had some beneficial effects.
Through the Companies� legislative efforts and with assistance led by Delegate Joe Vallario and others provisions were stripped out of the final Bill that would have required an immediate move of certain operations out of Maryland. The parts of the legislation that remained, though - and that were not deleted notwithstanding the Beretta Holding companies efforts to do so -remain offensive not only to our companies as firearm manufacturers, importers and distributors and as investors in jobs, taxes and income within the State of Maryland, but also to those of us who, as Maryland citizens, will now be encumbered with obstacles to our exercise of our Constitutional rights, such as a requirement we now be fingerprinted like a criminal before we can buy a handgun, without providing a commensurate benefit in reducing crime.
The resulting law that passed is not acceptable, even with the improvements we were able to obtain. In short, the law that finally passed went from being atrocious to simply being bad.
The question now facing the Beretta Holding companies in Maryland is this: What effect will the passage of this law--and the efforts ofMarylandgovernment officials to support its passage--have on our willingness to remain in this State?
In that respect we are mindful of two objectives: We will not let passage of this legislation prevent us from providing on-time delivery of our products to our U.S. Armed Forces and other important customers. We also will not go forward in a way that compounds the insult made to ourMarylandemployees by their Governor and by the legislators who supported his efforts.
Prior to introduction of this legislation the three Beretta Holding companies located inMarylandwere experiencing growth in revenues and jobs and had begun expansion plans in factory and other operations. The idea now of investing additional funds inMarylandand thus rewarding a Government that has insulted our customers and our products is offensive to us so we will take steps to evaluate such investments in other States. I painted a mural of clouds on the walls of my uncle-in-law's (is that even a term? My wife's uncle?) train room and he gave me his stainless 6" Colt Python and 200 rounds of .357.

I'm think I got the better end of this deal...
I've shot it a couple times so far and it's just a dream. Hardly any kick, great trigger, deadly accurate.
.
Still, I'm relatively unfamiliar with revolvers so if anyone has any info on quirks of the Python series I'm all ears.

I have been wanting to get a CHL license and wanted nothing but the xds, and particularly the bitone. I FINALLY found my gun and am excited to take the next steps towards carrying her with me. I couldn't be happier with this little pistol and am looking forward to learning a lot from this site. XDs .451 reload 230gn xtp, unique powder ?

Shooting from a XDs

I am new to reloading and I'm a little baffled by the 10 rounds I made and just shot.
230grn XTP, 5.5 grains unique. I had to put the OAL to 1.215 so that it would cycle properly in my XDs. Hornandy lists a minimum of 1.210. My question is I would of expected to see around 700fps coming from the xds and I was banking on going up to 6-6.5 grains with the xtp to reach the velocity I'm aiming for around 800-850fps but I just shot with the chrono and I averaged 1050fps. That not what I expected . Under 5.5 grains unique hornady lists it somewhere around 725-750fps in a 4" or so barrel. Im away from my book at the moment. What gives ? Brass looks good and primer after shooting 10 rounds. Is it the OAL causing the increased velocity? My chrono I just bought today.

Have any of you all gotten released from your Directv contract early without paying the penalty?

My new place won't allow dishes. I am pretty happy with the service and the price. But that is out of my control.

I will either go with Charter, Comcast, Time Warner, or Uverse, and will somehow scrounge the NFL Sunday Ticket through the Internet or through a bar or restaurant in person in the fall.

I am getting mixed feedback after googling it. It seems that half have to pay the fee.

Shotgun 50/50 match?

Anyone familiar with this? There is one this weekend at my gun club but not sure what it is. The only thing listed on the calendar is that 5 boxes of shells are needed and a shotgun that can hold 2 rounds. Got both of those covered.

Reloading SWC for the XDs

I've read on the forum about people having issues loading SWC's for the XDs. I'm loading lazer-cast 200gr SWC's and initially had problems with the gun not reliably going into battery. I was shooting the same practice loads I had worked up for my Kimber 1911 and, long story short, I found the XDs chamber is somewhat tighter than the Kimber.

I've found that as long as I keep the cartridge OAL shorter than about 1.240 and the taper crimp at 0.470 they load fine for me.
If you load SWC's, you do have to be careful and not load the shoulder of the bullet too deep. You need to leave at minimum about a fingernail's width of lead above the rim.

My practice load is 3.8 grains of Clays / lazer-cast 200gr SWC / OAL 1.235 / crimp 0.470. I've run about 400 rounds of these through my XDs now without any problems at all.

This guy was having a bad day on the road. And THEN it got worse.

A traffic camera in China recently recorded what has to be a contender for the worst driver in China award. And he's not even driving a car.

In the video below a man on a scooter is trying to navigate the whirlwind traffic at one of China's confusing and congested traffic circles. And this one is made worse by the construction of some kind of giant hole right in the middle of the street.

The hole has barricades and warning signs plastered all around it, but, by the end of this clip, it's obvious it's all for naught.

The hapless man strikes no less than four vehicles as he tries to evade the increasingly angry drivers who try to prevent him from climbing back in the saddle.

After hitting a panel truck (twice) the man inexplicably revs up the engine and, bursting through the flimsy barriers, dives headfirst into the gigantic cement pit poking up through the asphalt.

There's no word on whether or not the man was injured.

Or ended up on the other side of the world...

Ok, so I arrive at my Fiance's grandmother propertry (Home) to mow her grass last tuesday in my work clothes, had my gun IWB CBST, i just didnt have time to change beacuse i wanted to get over there and get started right away, anyway long story short she brought me a quick change of clothes. So i take my shirt off in the kitchen right beside her grandmother (Age: Approx. 70ish good health) and i notice out of the corner of my eye while im talking to my Fiance she is like staring at my gun BIG TIME. Im like oh crap i thought she knew already, beacuase im always wearing it, just under my shirt and i thought it was enough to see it especially lounging around the living room and up and down with the baby in front of her and so forth..

Well she notices me looking at her and takes her finger and touches the rear of the slide by the striker and says what is that on your belt, (like it was a piece of lint on a black shirt) lol?? With a very puzzled look?? lol. My Fiance chimes in oh, thats just his gun, and she looks at me with that OHHH look (good OHHH look lol) and says i didnt know you carried a gun, thats nice.. And went on about her business.

I def. got the feel that she actually approves of me carrying and feels better about me and her granddaughter if im carrying, seemed that way anyway. Well thats all, figured i would share a story. Seemed kinda odd, but funny!

Police arrived following reports of a stabbing to find Mr Butler standing in front of his home, bleeding from wounds to his abdomen and left arm, according to a Collier County Sheriff's Office report.

She is currently being held on a $50,000 bond.

I'm not sure how he thought this would end but Mr Butler should be home recovering by now... farting all over her pillow.

Part interchangeability between XDs and XD/XDm models

I have an XDs .45 . I want to buy a guide rail laser for it, but currently they are only made for the XD and the XDm are either of these interchangeable with XDs? I'm also curious are any of the parts interchangeable at all?

Hep me understand the XD-S USA Trigger Action

I've poked around but can't find the information that I am looking for. I'm looking for a deeper understanding of the mechanics of the new trigger.

What I'd like to know is the "what and why" of the Ultra Safety Assurance trigger.

Mechanically, how does this trigger differ?
Functionally, how does this trigger differ?
Why did SA change to this trigger rather than use the XD/XD-M trigger?
Were the changes necessary as a result of making the pistol this small. Or is this just an advancement that SA chose to offer in the new model? Did the marketing team just have this great acronym that they wanted to use (USA Trigger System)?

I understand that when dry firing, the trigger does not return to the full forward position. Why is that? What is the benefit?

Are all of the trigger changes tied to the disassembly fail safe, whereby the gun can't be broken down with a magazine in place? Or are these two features totally separate?

Does anyone know or think that the USA trigger and/or Fail-Safe Disassembly will make their way on to the XD and/or XD-M? Or will these be XD-S only features?

What Model

How can I determine which model I have? All it says on the slide is XD45 ACP. I cannot post any pictures because my post count is not high enough. Is there any other way to determine the model? I had a xd45 tactical but tactical was written on the slide. This one doesn't have anything on the slide. The slide is 7 inches long. The barrel is 4 inches. Thanks in advance for your help. <>< del
