recoil springs for xd-40's
Ok - I know this probably has been asked but I'm on dial up and my 'puter keeps locking up every time I try a search so:
I have two XD-40's. One sub-compact and one tactical. 1) What recoil spring operates best on the 5" tactical ??? 2) What spring for the sub compact ??? - I read somewhere that a different spring may reduce the "snap" of the .40 which I would like - but not at the cost of function ! - Suggestions ??? |

There isn't a working model for the sub-compact (spring issues) and I don't have a 40 Tactical so I can't even offer my experience.
Anyone? |

I use the 22# spring on my XD40 Tactical. I've tried the 24# but had a few ejection problems using cheap reloads. I want to try the 19# spring but can't get it out of my XD9

I am running a 16# spring in my XD-40 Tactical. It runs good but I change the spring about every 3000rds. After about 3000rds I can usually shake the gun out of battery, although it always pops back into battery afterwards. I think the lighter spring helps the gun run flatter than heavy recoil springs.

I just use the factory spring, SA put it in their guns for a reason. If it ain't broke don't fix it.

And if the reason was cost vs best choice, you think that their bean counters made the right decision? Just about every engineered product is a series of compromises. Personally I thought the stock assembly in the XD40 was broke, so I fixed it on mine. If it works on your too that is cool.
