Dons Fat guide rod
Anyone know, and yes I have searched around, with the fat guide rod can you still you the standard government wolff springs?
what are people running 18, 20, 22 etc |

Your signature says you have a XD40, I think the fat guide rod is only for the XD45 tactical.
Anyway, my understanding is that the fat guide rod for the XD45 is meant to use the stock size springs made for the XD; not the 1911 springs. Wolff now makes springs specifically for the XD. You have more options with the 1911 springs, but you need to use the "skinny" rod to use them. I typically hear from people with the XD40 that they run a 20lb spring.

yes I have a 40 tactical with a 20 ilb spring and it works great
I am picking up a new 45 tactical on tuesday and want to start getting things for it. |

I have a XD45 tactical and have a fat guide rod that I use with the stock spring (18.5lbs). I tried going up to the 20lb spring but had a couple of stove pipes, so I went back to stock.
