Light primer strikes.
I have a 5 inch XD-9 that I just bought one of your guide rods and a 16 pound recoil spring (Springco) from Pistol Gear.
It came in yesterdays mail so I didn't have a chance to shoot it before an IDPA match today. In the first four stages I had five light primer strikes. Before the fifth stage I put the stokc guide rod and spring back in and it ran just fine for the rest of the match. I have been running this gun for several months and several thousand rounds in IDPA and USPSA and never had a problem until I switched over. I am pretty sure that the problem is that stock striker spring is actually overcoming the recoil spring just enough to cause light hits. When the spring and guide rod are in it takes next to no effort to move the barrel a 1/4 inch to the rear before the recoil spring starts to offer resistance. What am I missing here? It's not like I am running a really light recoil spring and the striker spring shouldn't have enough umph to overcome a 16 pound recoil spring. Thanks Pete |

It does sound like the recoil spring does not have enough force at the installed length. I have not tried the Sprinco springs, maybe put in a call to Scott and see if he is getting other reports with that spring.

I run a 16 lb spring in my tactical and have never had a failure in many thousands of rounds in USPSA competition.
