#24 spring affecting cocking??
Something strange happened this weekend. When inserting a new magazine with the slide locked open, then pushing on the slide release, the pistol would not cock. I had to cock it manually. This happened several times, and it was random when it did. I recently added the Don's guide rod and #24 spring and thought that might be the issue. I swapped out the #24 spring with the factory and it seems to have gone back to normal.
Anyone know why this would be? Is the engagement just too hard with the #24 spring when the slide is released? I dont know the name of the part that engages the firing pin, but it looks to be pretty normal...no wear This is an XD40 Tactical with about 3000 rounds through it... |

Do you mean the slide release would not release? The heavy spring could do that. Sling-shotting is perfectly good method, I do it rather the use the lever.

Yup, it has to do with the heavy spring. I got off 200 rounds today with the stock spring and it didnt happen once.
