Hello,
I checked out Don's 22 lbs Guide Rod set on Pistol Gear.com. I also looked at Wolff 21 lbs Guide Rod set elsewhere. Unless I missed something, the Wolff Rod set comes with both a recoil spring and an "extra powered" striker spring whereas Don's Rod set only comes with the recoil spring. Why does Wolff include a new striker spring while Don's does not? Is it necessary to swap out a higher powered striker spring to match the heavier recoil spring? I have been reading up and down "Don's Guide Rod Forum" but see that no one mentioned this at all. Thanks for any input. |

Light firing pin strikes are not a problem with the XD from any history I have seen, so I am not sure why Wolff offers them. In a striker fired pistol the striker is cocked by the recoil spring, so a heavier striker spring means less likely to go into battery as the recoil spring fatigues, and the recoil spring is certainly the short life of the system.
Many have shot 10s of thousands of rounds and never replaced the striker spring, so it does not seem to be a weak point. It seems to be an odd way to go for a non-issue. |

That is a firing pin spring for the 1911, Wolff puts them into their 1911 recoil spring packs.

Loves2Shoot is bringing up that the spring offered with my rod usually has a spring for the 1911 that is discarded for the XD purpose
Wolff sells their own guide rod and spring for the XD service models that does not use a bushing, and has a proprietary spring set that works with it. I think this is what the post was asking, and from the Wolff site: Quote:
