Had a hard time removing slide from my gun today?
Looks like the spring had engulfed the rod and the top of the spring had caught on some internal. Doesn't affect the slide cycling or shooting, just disassembling. Had to force it off just a little bit, not too hard.
What do you think? ![]() ![]()

The spring is on "backwards". Put the closed loop end of the spring end on the rod first and this won't happen. The shape in the slide will contain the open one of the spring, but you need the closed end of the spring back in the locking block for it to behave (and stay on the rod end).

Yes. Don's instructions say "open coil spring end goes towards the front" I had thought the same thing because I am a 1911 guy. It did not seem right but I did it anyway. I am sure you are not the first and wont be the last.

Well, besides stupidity, I have nothing else to attribute this too.
I must admit I do not shoot the XD as much as I used to since it is my CCW. Last time I cleaned it though I must have forgot which end was the proper end.
