Don's guide rod help with pics AND videos!
First, the video:
Don's Guide Rod installation tutorial.wmv (3.8mB) (I re-edited it for OldSchool. Yay, I have another part time job!) ------- Photo version (Seriously, just watch the video. It's a lot better than these pictures. And it's tiny now.) There are two ends to the spring. The closed end: ![]() and the open end: ![]() Insert the rod into the closed end of the spring, as shown here: ![]() After insertion, the rod's flanged end should be against the closed end of the spring: ![]() and the open end of the spring should be hanging off the rod. ![]() Insert ONE of the supplied washers (Which washer is really up to you) into the hole on the muzzle end of the slide where the stock guide rod used to go, and make sure that the washer lays flat. ![]() MAKE SURE YOUR BARREL IS PROPERLY INSTALLED. Insert the open end of the spring into the hole with the washer in it, pressing against the washer. This requires two hands for me to do, but I only had one available for the picture. ![]() ![]() Apply pressure to the assembly, and attempt to feed the guide rod through the spring, through the washer, and out the front of the gun. This is initially fairly difficult, but you will eventually get a nack for it. When you have pushed the assembly far enough in, hook the flange in front of the same spot you used to install the stock guide rod. ![]() The very tip of the rod should be visible (along with the washer) from the muzzle end of the gun. ![]() Re-assemble your XD. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Go to town. Over time, the washer will get minorly gouged by the spring. This is normal.

Oh I screwed up the captions on the pics big time.... And they're distracting.
Gah. Oh well. I still like the videos.

Funny. I started doing the same thing for our site. We are going to have video showing installation of items that we sell. Don's Rod is the first video, I did the video today, planned on the doing the editing over the weekend.

Old School, I'm sure it will be just a little better put together.

In your video you mention tutorial(s) plural. What other tutorials do you have videos of? Besides the holster draw one, saw that one already. I think we need more of these, they're great! Commentary's fun too. Heh

I figure if I continue to vary my backdrop, it will keep people interested.

Noticed in this last one there was a LOT more clothing, looked like both a shirt was added AND a coat in the "why Don sends more washers" video.
