Lighter springs - 9mm
I was thinking, would a 9mm 4" (with Rich's trigger job) cycle reliably with something as low as 10-14#?
My ammo is either 115gr or 147gr WWB.

I doubt such a spring is readlily available . It needs to be strong enough at it's installed length to cock the striker(forcing itself against the striker spring to bring the slide into battery), then progress to the weight inidcated.
The muzzle flip would be pronounced as the slide mass would impact against the frame with some velocity. With low power reloads it may come back into balance, but they still need to move the slide mass. I think that the competitors shooting light springs couple them with lightened slides and taylored loads so that it all works. None of these comments are from direct experience, just doing armchair physics and trying to visualize the model. |
