Wanted: Pics of guide rod & spring in service XD
Wanted: Pics of guide rod & spring in service XD.
I have a service XD-40 with 5" ported barrel. I was curious about the dons guide rod and hopefully one of you guys would post pics of it, and post a pic of it installed in the slide (but not on the receiver yet) |

Well, here is mine installed and on receiver,
If you really want one with just the rod installed in the slide, I can try to take one after work today.

Excellent, thanks!!
Looking at the points of the guns, jonny4523 is different than yours. Yours is beveled, and his has a ring around the rod, and appears to have a flat edge. What's the difference? |

yea, mine is flat. Not sure why that is different.
As with the ring, he has one too. It is a bushing that comes with the rod. Mine just happens to be chrome.

Hooz, when did you get yours? Maybe the design has changed since I got mine? I'm thinking mine is at least 2 years old.

Interesting, thanks.
I like the beveled edge, but with the chrome ring What weight did you both use? would you recommend it? right now I have the factory springs and it works fine - I was just wondering if its worth an upgrade. |

I bought that DGR many moons ago. Back then they came with a black delrin bushing, and eventually, a brass bushing.
The new rods seem to be flatter on the end, and they now come with a stainless bushing to match the stainless rod. |

I have a 22# spring in mine. I haven't used any other weights, but this one works great. I haven't had a problem with the original design, I just like simpler and more reliable. A solid metal rod is going to be much stronger than a multi-stage one. Just to many areas of possible failure.
