DGR Range Report
Here is a range report from this afternoon.
I got a DGR several months ago and it came with a #16 spring which I shot once and hated. So I bought a #22 spring and slapped that into my XD Service 9mm. It is a dream to shoot. Love it. My bro-in-law, a game warden in Utah was shooting it and had several problems. The gun failed to feed twice; one after the other. Then it stovepiped a couple times on him. I don't think he was limp wristing, but I did find it a bit odd. I shot it right after him and I had one stovepipe on me. We were shooting WWB. Has anyone ever had this happen before with the same setup? Any ideas as to why it would happen? Overall, I am very satisfied with the setup. Thanks for a quality product Don!

I have only had a few stovepipes but they were ammo problems, I was see how low I could load them.

Stovepiping is classic low power rounds or limp wristing. This is not to say that you are limp wristing with the stock spring, but the heavier spring is enough to make it show. Grip it firmer and the stovepipes will go away. Or go to a lighter spring.
Limp wristing has a negative sound but it is not meant to be derogatory, just descriptive of what is happening. It is most common with people used to shooting revolvers that then try semi-autos. The technique that works well with revolvers make a semi-auto fail. So just firm up the grip or go for a lighter recoil spring to fix the stovepipes. |

Thanks for the input guys. We'll work on firming up on the grip!

I love my 22LBS spring on my service model .40. Spreads the recoil out over the distance, reducing the muzzle flip and little more than than that of the 18 I originally installed.
I have yet to have a problem with it and have put about 200rnds through it at the last match I was at...
