Question about Don's Guide Rod...
I have a XD .40 service model.. I have a few questions about your guide rods
1. would I be able to get a guide rod that is black? 2. stock spring is 18, Im not too sure if I want to change too much from the stock spring.. would keeping the stock spring weight but using guide rod still help dampen recoil? if not, would a 20 spring be much different in feel than the stock 18? 3. where can I get the guide rod & spring package deal? |

2. No, it wouldn't help appreciably to stick to the stock weight. 20 pounds would be a little difference, but I can't tell you how much. 3. Any of the forum sponsoring stores will sell it to ya'.

Thanks(?) [TASF]Overkill!
I have tried some cold bluing for stainless with poor results. It was not durable for me at all. It will be possible to get it done professionally, but the demand has not been high enough yet. But it is starting to be enough that I will get some quotes done. I think I would like to try to keep it stainless, but I can also do a plain steel and get it hot blued also. Feedback appreciated. I think that you will like a 22# spring in the XD40. Using the 18# spring and my rod will feel the same as factory. 20# may be enough to feel, but the vast majority like the 22# just fine. That is what I like to shoot. There are two stores (in alphabetical order) as of now with a combo: http://xd-hs2000.com/shopping.html http://www.pistol-gear.com/ |

Thanks for the feedback..
The only worry I would have about using a 22# spring would have been that I thought it would make the slide too heavy then causing casings not to eject properly.. but if thats not the case I would like to try one thanks again! |

The casings land around 3-4 feet on my XD40 with the 22# spring, far enough out to indicate good slide velocity and ejection.
